Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Opaque dark brown - black beer. Short lived tan head. Palate is soft and viscous. Semi dry with fine carbonation. Rich dark chocolate and malt. Trace of coffee. Smooth bourbon. Light vanilla oak. Bourbon spice and mellow dark fruits. Smooth finish. Nice but could possibly do with a little morr time.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Medium tan head atop crystal clear dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, Bourbon, light wood, milk chocolate. Taste is sweet, Bourbon/vanilla, some milk chocolate, light alcohol burn. Sticky medium-full body. I’m not usually a fan of BBA, and I really disliked Batch 9000, so I’m astonished by how much I enjoyed this one.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks, Derek. Almost black in color with a khaki head. Huge vanilla aroma. Lots of bourbon, oak, and roasted malt, too. Plenty of dark chocolate, licorice, and dark fruits. Sweet bourbon, vanilla, and dark fruit flavors. Heavy on the licorice, roasted malt, caramel, and molasses. A bit of alcohol, some dark chocolate, and maybe just a hint of maple syrup.

Keg at Kickbacks, RBWG. Pours dark, red-brown with a small, creamy tan head. Lovely aroma, lots of sugary dark fruits, brown sugar, hints of chocolate. Big sweet flavor with rich, ripe dark fruits, raisins, brown sugar, rich bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, a touch chewy, hints of burnt wood, dark cherries, raisins, mellowed alcohol. Delicious stuff, rich, smooth, incredibly balanced. Wonderful.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2013 Bottle...This beer rocks!… Pitch black pour with a mid-sized, creamy, well-tanned head. Excellent retention. The nose boasts loads of boozy alcohol interlaced with huge components of roasted nuts, caramel and oak-aged red wine. Full-bodied and uber-silky with laid-back carbonation. The sweet flavor is a swirl of fudge, vinous fruits and deeply-roasted charcoal malts. Finishes fudge-chocolaty, sweet and boozy. I’m not really picking up any bourbon. I’m picking up something akin to a red wine cask or Congac barrel. Kudos to a very generous biggsbowler for sharing this world class treat with the South Florida crew!
