3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted on 11/26/11 from a 2009 bottle. Pours opaque black with a thin brown head that leaves a thin collar. The nose is bourbon, darkly roasted malt, and some spicy Belgian fruity notes. The flavor is a bit more tart fruit with the same darkly roasted malt and Belgian spice from nose, with a ton of more chocolate covered raisin, and just a touch of bourbon maple. The body is medium with light carbonation and a long chocolate covered raisin finish.

Old note from 8/11/09
Dark black pour light tan head with good lacing. Predominantly bourbon aroma some light sweet bread ho ey notes as well. Full creamy palate. A beer fighting with its barreling more separate than a comp,ex blend of flavors some light spice then bread then overwhelmed with bourbon. Nice but not great.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
6/17/2010: Bell’s Bourbon Barrel Hell Hath No Fury... Aroma: Subtle licorice, smoke, and char; highly caramelized sugars. Appearance: Deep brown, opaque; thin beige head. Flavor: Bourbon soaked oak; black walnut; crystal malt sugars; barrel char; dry alcohol burn; slightly dry finish. Palate: Medium-bodied; smooth and mellow. Overall: Quite good with some complexity; the base beer is overwhelmed by the bourbon; would like to see a blend of regular Hell Hath No Fury and barrel-aged Hell Hath No Fury.
Growler fill (draught) shared by Danny at The Party Source in Bellevue, KY. Thanks! Rating #71 for this beer.

Very flowery Belgian Aroma, sweet and like a perfume. Color is a deep brown with red hues. Flavor is sweet, fruity. And a little spicy, definitely lots of potpourri and salt. Very Belgian. Almost some ketchup. 2009 bottle

tap. pours a copper brown with a descent off white bubbly head. aroma is caramel malt, oak, and some vanilla. flavor is the same as aroma. lacing is descent, beer is descent, but a bit over carbonated and is taking away from the flavor.

On tap at MBGSF 2011. Pours a deep brown with a light tan head. Bourbon aroma with brown sugar. Flavor is also brown sugar and bourbon with dark fruit, though I can’t quite describe it right. Quite nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A deep dark ale with a thin creamy moka head. In aroma, a vinous and hoppy malt over vanilla beans. In mout, a woody vanilla chocolate malt with warming alcohol, light lactic notes, not bad but a bit off. On tap at Brewvvival, Feb. 26 2011.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Pours essentially black, maybe some reddish-brown highlights to it. A small tan head sits on top.
S: Intense is a great way to describe this beer. Really strong on the dark fruits up front, particularly plums, with a nice black cherry note to it as well. The bourbon follows offering a pleasant booziness in addition to oak and vanilla aromas. Just a touch of roasted malt (or perhaps charred oak) is in there.
T: Sweet malt, sugar, and dark fruits are there to remind you that this is a Belgian beer. The plums are again quite strong and there is a touch of banana and raisin. Bourbon barrel really provides a lot of the flavor and gives the beer a solid oak, vanilla, and booze profile.
M: Medium to full in body with a moderate carbonation.
D: This was quite a tasty beer. I really thoroughly enjoyed it, but the booziness of it does get to you.
