Draft pour on tap at Eccentric Cafe (Kalamazoo, MI). Pours a deep blackish hue, dark and opaque with just a mellow ruby midnight glow on the edges. Frothy light brown head atop dies to a mellow ring, laces ok. Aromas show gentle sweetness, touches of oatmeal, sweeter cocoa and earthy coffee. Gentle espresso, earth and a touch of oak. Mellow vanillin, some gentle sweetness. Cool, collected, just waiting to pounce. Initial medium bodied, a mellow barrel element meets sweeter toffee, toast and oatmeal. A bit dry, some tannic elements meet earthy espresso, coffee and earthy elements, soil, a bit nutty. Middle is a touch sweeter, mellow body with just a touch of warmth. Pleasant coffee, gentle creamy sweetness. The barrel element is mellow, underplayed with gentle vanilla, touches of oak, faint waft of spirit but not quite of any substance. Backend is dry, a bit carmelized and nice coffee albeit sweeter elements overall. A more approachable beer with touches of earth, dryness with some nicer coffee, espresso elements, a bit roasty and dry as we taper out and finish. Nice stuff, a touch underbodied with a bit of oak, the Black Note barrel gives just a kiss of well integrated life. Solid. The nose eventually pops

Draft, Roll out the Barrel Party at the Eccentric Cafe. Opaque deep brown-black body, thin brown head. Big roasted coffee nose with nice bean bitterness and aromatics. Lots of coffee bean, too, in the body, which is roasty, bitter, and tannic with dark chocolate notes.

In tap at bells. A heavily coffee infused light creamy stout. Fairly sweet light body. Coffee nose is fantastic. Otherwise decent stout.

Draft to taster at Eccentric Cafe. The list says BB Breakfast Blend DCS, but it’s the same beer by the description. Looks good; a dull black with beige lacing. Smells of dark malt with light notes of oak and bourbon. Tastes like it smells, only more robust, with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer.

On tap at all stouts day... Expected blackish cola hued consistency with a thin film of off white head... Mild bourbon barrel notes with relatively aggressive roasted coffee presence. Smooth quality throughout with oaty grains to add to the aforementioned... Semi-sweet oaty stout qualities with the the grains attributed to the consistency and mouthfeel. Vanilla and mild barrel presence. Nice medium creamy mouthfeel with adequate carbonation. One of the better beers all day.

On draft at All Stouts Day. The pour is a dark brown, not quite black. The head is a dark khaki that fades to a spotty film and leaves a moderate lace. The aroma is COFFEE. Right in the face. There are undertones of the malt and not really creaminess to be found. The taste is extraordinarily coffee forward with a nice light vanilla tone and then fades a little through the creaminess. The mouth feel is amazing. Really thick and coats the mouth delightfully. The lingering finish is all coffee, and that's not bad by any means ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is fresh coffee, some sweetness. Appearance is very dark brown, edging to black. Taste is fresh coffee, sweet malt, some chocolate. Mouthfeel is perfect, thick with soft carbonation. Overall, this is very good.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2013 Tap: pitch black, full opacity with a tan layer perched on top that wastes no time settling to a much thinner film and ring. Aroma is roasted coffee beans, balanced by nice, creamy sweetness. Almost milky, with a little caramel and a faint hint of oak barrel. Nothing mind-blowing, but a good harmony of aromas. Taste starts off with creamy milk chocolate nibs, then hits with a little sweetness in the form of some dark fruits, like prunes or dates. Cocoa, milky and sweet. Mid-palate brings out heavier coffee notes - only a light roast here, with still more of a subtle sweetness to it. Amazing balance all around. Only a touch of oak lies within; not much of a hint of bourbon at all. Nice creamy mouth feel. Very tasty beer.
