3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe where ABV was listed as 8.2%.
Orange-honey coloered, clear with a durable but small head.
Very faint hint of vinegar mars the aroma which is otherwise appealing. Hints of honey and fresh fruits.
Medium body and carbonation. Slight tongue burn.
T: good sweet/bitter balance.
O: Light barleywine; good but a bit disappointing.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Draft at brewery. The pour is a nice vibrant orange. The aroma is nothing. The taste is very bitter upfront. The taste even is bland. Disappointed.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Extremely bitter with resinous hops, with a really strange sweetness that is reminiscent of the grape kool aid like foil top barrels. Kind of weird and complex, but not bad.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the Eccentric Café, Kalamazoo. Hazy medium orange-brown body, thin to medium light beige head. Very light nose, some sweet cereals and brown sugar, candy and nuts. Sweet body, lots of brown sugar and candy with a soapy bitter finish. Malt-forward but not syrupy. That said, there’s something ephemeral and a tad cloying about the malt profile.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Enjoyed on tap at Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo, MI. This stuff is ok. Appearance is a cloudy amber with a thin white head. Aroma mostly syrupy. Taste also syrupy and malty. Wish this was better.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft to taster at Eccentric Cafe. Looks decent; light for a barleywine though. A transparent orange with. Sticky off-white lacing. Smells of mild malt and hops. Tastes like it smells with a light barleywine sweetness. Average on the palate. An underwhelming example of the style.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Bells.... No aroma really. Very minimal. Flavor is mostly malt, faint hops. Very dry aftertaste. Good barley wine for warm weather.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Eccentric. Pours a hazy orangish brown with little head. Aromas are muted with a little booze and maybe some orange blossom or something sweet and slightly hoppy. Flavor is crisp, especially for a barley wine. Sweet sugars (kind of a maple syrup almost) with a bitter hops presence that dominates the late palate. It’s a bit understated for a barley wine, but for a summer barley wine it’s about spot on.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Very muddled medium dark brown with some suds on top. Mild sour malt scent and sweet grassy hops too, pretty light. Roasted malt flavor, ricey alcohol, leathery scotch flavor too. Kind of uninteresting finish, slightly tingly mouthfeel. Not a terrible barley wine but certainly not my favorite beer.
