4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Bells. Served way too cold. Had to wait about 20 minutes for it to warm up close to 55 degrees. Pours reddish with little head. Smells floral with hint of pine. Taste bright with floral hops, very little sweetness. Bitter finish.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Eccentric. Pours a hazy orangish brown with little head. Aromas are muted with a little booze and maybe some orange blossom or something sweet and slightly hoppy. Flavor is crisp, especially for a barley wine. Sweet sugars (kind of a maple syrup almost) with a bitter hops presence that dominates the late palate. It’s a bit understated for a barley wine, but for a summer barley wine it’s about spot on.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap sample at EC. Poured clear copper color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy herbal, citrus hop and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is was a solid beer but soft for style.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Bells.... No aroma really. Very minimal. Flavor is mostly malt, faint hops. Very dry aftertaste. Good barley wine for warm weather.

Very much wine taste. Barley like it says. Very heavy head that held well. Dark gold color. Had a very strong aftertaste. Good beer. Not a favorite though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap pour at Bell’s last month - amber brown pour with little to no head. Aroma is sweet and malty, brown sugar, hint of dark fruit, splash of booze. Flavor is kind of muted for a barley wine...malt forward, caramel, hint of dark fruit (not dominant), and alcohol in the background - hint of hops, but far from dominant. Palate was medium to high carbonation for the style and the ABV was evident. Mixed feelings on this one - not that bold for the style, but sometimes taking the foot off the gas isn’t a bad thing...would have it again, but wouldn’t seek it out..

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the Eccentric Café, Kalamazoo. Hazy medium orange-brown body, thin to medium light beige head. Very light nose, some sweet cereals and brown sugar, candy and nuts. Sweet body, lots of brown sugar and candy with a soapy bitter finish. Malt-forward but not syrupy. That said, there’s something ephemeral and a tad cloying about the malt profile.
