I would have liked to have seen a little more cherry, and a little more hop in this beer. Pours a reddish brown, amber if you will. There is some real cherry flavor, although it is painfully little. This would be comparable to adding a hint of cherry to bass ale.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 emptytankard (36) - Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2006
Pours a deep reddish brown with a great cherry aroma. Somewhat tart with a juicy and somewhat sour finish. In the end, a bit too thin and one-dimensional.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Adverse2Bitter (35) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 20, 2006
A little tame for what one would normally expect from Bells. Nice reddish color and pleasant cherry sent. Good mouth feel and carbonation. Cherry’s dominate here, but do not over power. I think this ales low score has more to do with what most folks expect from bells as a brewer. If this ale would have been released buy New Glarus or another brewer I am confident it would have a higher score.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Muckrakerr (33) - Muskegon, Michigan, USA - JUL 16, 2005
Pours from a bottle to an opaque reddish amber. Good, slow disappearing head. Aroma reminds me of when I was 12 years old picking tart cherries on Mead’s Farm near Frankfort, Michigan. Tart, tangy flavor. A maltiness seeps in that doesn’t allow the cherries to overpower the ale. I could drink alot of this ale.

We ordered three cases and sent them all back after trying it.
The heartburn bitter was outdone only by the cherry concentrate- a far cry from the Bell’s I remember.

I used to live in Kalamazoo and I lived for summer afternoons for this beer! Great fruity aroma. A bit more fiz than I would suggest, but not offensive in the least. Tart fruit flavor that tingles the tastebuds while relying on a solid ale base so as to not taste "gimmicky." In my honest opinion, the most unique and rewarding of all the Bell’s brews!
