bottle: not as bad as everyone is claiming, but a tad dissapointing considering how great it is rated on tap....brownish red app, aroma is nothing special, a tad woody and no cherry whatsoever...flavor is alright, but not distinct in cherry...a tad sour and tart though

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2006 Pours dark red with small tan, creamy head. Aroma is strongly of cherries. Flavor is lots of cherries, very tart and sour. A hint of sweet malt in the end.

On tap at the eccentirc. Amber body, cherry malty aroma. Taste is a sour cherry, caramel ale. A good effort but not one of bells best.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2006 Last six at the store, it was Bells, so I grabbed it even though it was $10. Pours clear sparkling red, with very little head. Nice aroma of cherries and malt. Medium body. Flavor starts sour and watery, and finishes sticky and acidic at the back of the tongue. Somewhat artificial tasting. I was rather disappointed with this one. It’s not that it is bad, I just have higher standards for beers coming from Bells, as they are one of my favorite breweries.

Sample at the Bell’s tasting at Brews Cafe on 3/6/08: The beer pours a luminous red color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of tart cherries and wheat. Medium, clean body with dark cherry and bready malt flavors. The finish is fruity with lingering cherry aftertaste. Might suffer from the recent New Glarus Fruit beers I have had, but not bad overall.

The Birdman is my favorite basketball player. Man that dude can jump out of the gym Somewhat old cherry aroma. Perhaps a touch of oxidation. Very juicy smelling. Pours a murky brownish red with some bubbles. It looks like Naked juice or something. More juicy flavors - all cherry juice, fresh with little sugary sweetness really just real fruit flavors. For some reason after the fresh cherry juicy notes I got a soft touch of smoke. Very odd, but interesting at the same time. Not bad.

From an old rating note: 12oz bottle from Andersons in Toledo (I think). Sour cherry taste. tart, acidic - weird taste. Would have to try again for a more complete taste. Only have a score.

Bottle with a batch # of 6898. A very old bottle indeed! Bottle popped open with very little carbonation. Poured an opaque reddish brown hue with zero head. The aroma is fruity but not overly so. Tart fruit and then a very 1 sided fruity wheat flavor. The bottle is very old so I don’t really know what to expect out of this. Bitter flat aftertaste. Tasty for being old/flat but not too bad, would have loved to taste this one in its heyday! Medium mouthfeel.

(12oz botte, RBSG05) Hazed amber body, off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, sour cherry, caramel, orange. Taste is medium sweet, cherry, some sourness, light caramel. Light-medium body.
