Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Nov 6, 2009 Aroma and color of an imperial stout, thick, black body with a red tint and dark brown head. The flavor is a light roasted black coffee with lots of sour cherries. Odd, but yummy. Bottle at Knightly Spirits, Orlando. zizzybalubba (338), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA Nov 6, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet (Batch 9367, bottled September 28, 2009). Thick black pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and espresso initially but fades into a more faint bitter chocolate and dark fruit. Sour cherry flavor upfront but underneath is a roasted malt finish as well as dark chocolate. I don’t drink this often so I’ve never gotten tired of it but I really enjoy this beer. The last time I had it was on tap but I think I prefer this in the bottle. Better by quite a bit than I remembered. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Oct 20, 2009 12 oz bottle from holiday market in royal oak. pours black with a ligering tan head. aroma of roasted malt and hints of tart cherry with whispers of chocolate. the flavour starts with sweet dark malt, then the tast cherry aspects roll in. the finish is tart. the dark malt and cherry play very well off each other. enjoyable but not something id purchase regularily. ElDuderino (136), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Oct 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep dark chocolatey body with slight ruby hues. Small off-white head with little retention. The nose is full of roasty caramel notes and dark bitter chocolate, maybe a slight vineous note, but very faint. Flavors are very subtle and stout like up front. Roasty, dry, slightly sweet with great yeast - malt balance. The cherry presence starts to pull through in the after taste and is equally sublte and magnificent. Slightly tart, slightly wine-esque and very dry. The most amazing part of this beer was that with each sip the flavors seems to reset and come at me fresh and clean... nothing built in intensity or changed the flavors over time. Really a great beer. blaheath (16), Missouri, USA Oct 3, 2009 Batch 8144
Pitch black in color with a 1/2 finger head. Aroma is of dark fruits, chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste is dominated by tart cherry with a light acidity plus chocolate/roasted malt and coffee. Medium mouthfeel and a short sweet finish. At two years old, I think that this still has the staying power for a few years to come. I can’t wait to find out. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Oct 2, 2009 Pours a deep opaque sable with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma is rich and smoky with undertones of coffee, cherries and unsweetened chocolate. Smoky, slightly sweet flavor has a firm and slightly sour cherry tone as well as hints of coffee and chocolate. Silky smooth texture is just a little tingly. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 30, 2009 Source:12 oz bottle from Chucks in Bowling Green.
