Commercial Description:
This unique ale begins its life as a powerful and richly sweet stout to which Michigan tart cherries are added. The resulting black brew is complex, sweet and tart with a distinct cherry finish. It will improve with cellaring. Available September - May

12 oz bottle shared with the neighbor. Nice malty cherry aromas. Flavor fell off a bit with a touch of Nyquil in there with the malty roasted malts. Just Okay.

Black body with chocolate top. Aroma akin to a Belgian Brown; malted, roasty with sour cherry and woody aromatics. Like a chocolate cherry cordial. Flavor is somewhat disappointing. A careless wash of malt, sour cherry, and wood. Creamy mouthfeel with some metallic notes.

Pours black with a reddish brown head. Aroma is of cherries, chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is of very tart cherries, chocolate, roasted malt, and licorice. Strong, lingering cherry taste. Very light body made it very easy to drink. Not an amazing beer, but it is drinkable.

Pitch black body with a very thin brown head. Nice aroma of chocolate, cherries, and tobacco. Full, smooth mouthfeel, appropriate for a stout. The flavor is quite unique. There’s just a touch of the chocolate goodness up front, but it is quickly overpowered by the tart cherries. Aftertaste is a bit cloying. Okay stout, but I think the tartness of the cherries is a bit too much.

Crushed with Jakebra. Tart cherries and stoutness on the nose. Very tart flavor and gets too sour in the finish. Its aight.

From bottle... poured black with reddish-brown head. Expected to smell cherry, but the aroma was very weak. Flavor was sweet and tart. I dont think Id pay for this again, but Im glad I tried it. It was relatively enjoyable.

.. wow, very tart stuff .. smells of a put out cigar and roasted cherry skins .. black as an 8-ball .. way to big, a muddled mess, man, i loved the barrel aged version, but this i dont take to kindly too...
