| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | May 22, 2008 This thing is just not my cup of tea. Pours out black with a small brown head. Aroma was your typical stout with a hint of cherrys. Flavor was just plain aweful. At first it was too cold and was horrible. I let it sit for an hour to warm to near room temp. Still aweful. I stuggled to get this one down as I prefer not to pour beer down the drain. sebletitje (1903), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 16, 2008 Poured a reddish, purple dark. The head was reddish/brownish as well. Had a well balanced taste of cherry, chocolate and a clear roasted aftertaste.
A definite suprise stout, pleasing to the palate.
The extra cherry flavor is very enjoyable and make it a very interesting stout. hopson (594), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 15, 2008 bottle- really enjoyed this one. Roasty as hell, with a nicely underdone cherry finish. Fruit was subtle, but there, and did not overwhelm competing flavors. Very good. esjaygee (1519), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2008 Dark brown with dissipating brown head. Aroma of coffee, cherry, chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor of cherry, chocolate and coffee. A touch sour but finishes nicely. Another decent drinkable stout from Bells. corby112 (700), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2008 Pours very dark almost black with burgundy edges and small off white foam head. Malty aroma with a strong cherry scent. Odd combination of maltiness and sweet cherry flavor. swoopjones (1896), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 8, 2008 Bottle. Didnt really care for this one. Pours a deep black with slight reddish hue & aromas of roasted malts, light chocolate & sout tart cherry. Lighter bodied with tastes of sour & tart cherries, light chocolate & coffee. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with SoLan. Pours black with some rich red highlights along the edges when held against light. Luscious brown head that faded to a film after the first quarter of the glass and left very little lace. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and some notes of cherries lurking in the background. The flavor was initially roasted malt and some coffee, followed by some tart cherries. The tartness of the cherries did not really mesh with the roast flavors for me. I’ve wanted to try this beer for some time now, and I really wanted to love it. I liked it, but I can’t say I loved it. bhensonb (4240), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2008 Bottle. Tart cherry aroma over toasted malt. Opaque black color with a tan head that left promptly. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is dark, dark, dark. It’s slightly sweet, but the almost unnoticeable cherries do impart a balancing tartness. This is deadly stuff. How can you sip just once? The finish is amazingly complicated. This brew just doesn’t quit. Eventually a woody astringency (cherry pits?) is noticeable. After that some chocolate comes forward. A brew to ponder.
