3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 pjwalsh2 (87) - Palos Park, Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2011
1. Look – A black beer with a small brownish color head.
2. Sniff – It has a roasted chocolate nose with a very subtle cherry aroma.
3. Sip – This full bodied stout is very interesting. At first sip, it is very similar to a regular stout, but it has a somewhat tart and sour cherry finish.
4. Another Look – This is an average looking stout with average lacing.
5. Evaluate – Overall, this is a very interesting stout. However, its cherry flavor is intense and unexpected. I would recommend this cherry stout to those who enjoy dark sour beers or stouts that are slightly different.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Pours black with a half finger of dark tan head. Aroma is mostly sweet chocolate with a small bit of tart cherry. Taste is medium sour and light bitter. Strong tart cherries up front with a nice bitter dark chocolate following. Medium bodied with a slick yet creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, awesome! I would drink it every day if it wasn’t $16 for a 6pack.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 JoePeesie (578) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - NOV 3, 2011
More like tart stout. Pours a jet black with little to no head that does not lace at all. Nose is of cherries and coco nibs, a bit of roasted malts. Taste is very tart from the start. I get a bit of burnt malts but the cherries overwhelm the stout. I personally like fruit stouts where the prevailing flavor is the stout and the fruit is complimentary. IMO the cherries are bigger than the stout here.

Pairings: Digestive w/ dark forrest cake
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 lachrymalisis (145) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 1, 2011
aromas and flavors of tart cherry (very good) mixed with smoked chocolate (not good). The blend is not successful, to put it nicely. I like Bells, and everything I’ve tried up to this point has been phenomenal, but this was just too much like an unsweetened cherry-covered piece of bacon, honestly. Maybe age helps it, but straight off, it’s not very pleasant.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 dinkle50 (227) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 31, 2011
Dark pour with an almost red colored head. Smell is chocolate and roast. Taste is sour cherries and rich milk chocolate. Palate is a little thin for the style. Slight burn as well. The roast really lingers on your tongue with this one. The sourness of the cherry is unexpected, but not a bad thing.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Quasimodo (111) - chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Very nice balance of fermented cherries and a semi-sweet, smooth stout. They use a lot of cherries. The stout could be a little more robust, but overall this is a yummy beer.

Pitch black head with brown/tan head. Smell of tart cherries, maybe slight chocolate? but that may be my mind playing tricks on me by it’s appearance. Taste is tart cherries, and smoke. This was a lot more sour/tart than i was expecting. Slight chocolate taste. Mouthfeel is way too watery for a stout for me. This was the them most disappointing aspect of this brew for me. Overall, it’s interesting, but i would pass on it next time around.
