nimbleprop (822), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA May 25, 2007 Updated: May 26, 2007Poured a syrupy looking flat black with a thin, sticky brown head. Smells of fruit, apples, pears and cherries with none of the roasted malt flavor you’d expect. Really doesn’t taste like beer at all. The sweet cherry and fruit flavor overwhelms any other subtle flavors. The finish brings a touch of the roasted malt combined with the sourness of the cherries. Even if you don’t like beer, you’re likely going to like this. Stout drinkers might be disappointed, but anyone looking for a quality niche beer has found it. artvandelay (32), Ames, Iowa, USA May 24, 2007 Bottle. This beer does not work for me; I couldn’t even drink half the glass. I was expecting a full stout with some cherry notes. What I got was a mess of fruit punch and watery beer. Unfortunately, I have 5 bottles of this stuff left, so maybe I’ll give it a re-rate when I’m feeling more open-minded. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 21, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s, sampled with the Mad Indian. Pours dark with red hues, and a dark cola colored head. Aroma of roasted malts and cherries. The flavor is a lot of roast and tart cherries. coog brew. Sombeast (151), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 20, 2007 Served in a snifter. An aggressive pour yielded a opaque black liquid with a bold 2+ finger dark tan head. Aroma is suble, with a mild roast malt and almost imperceptible cherry character. The flavor has a mild roasted malt dominating, while I can feel a bit of sour cherry juice slipping about between my teeth. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth, but the finish is a bit astringent, and somewhat slick in nature. A little lacing is present. MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2007 Bottle from Capones. Sampled with stegosaurus. Brown pour with a red hue. Aroma of cherry and roasted malt. The warmer it got the more cherry you tasted. Smooth flavor and basically a good brew. Not the best stout from Bells but a good one. michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA May 8, 2007 12oz. Bottle: Moderately sweet aroma. Smells of cherries, roasted malts, caramel, and alcohol, as well as a little chocolate and coffee. Poured dark dark black with a reddish hue. Small dark brown head diminished almost instantly. No lacing. Opaque. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly tart. Starts with tart cherries, which are followed by sweet, roasty malts and a little chocolate. Medium to full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, roasted malt finish. Overall, a different, but good, sweet stout. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA May 7, 2007 Bottle. Pours dark black brown--I can’t see any light through the liquid. Tan head. Aroma is chocolate, malt, cherry (actually cherry, not cough syrup cherry), molasses, pine. Flavor is smoky, molasses, pine, chocolate, coffee. There’s a subtle fruit sensation on the back of the tongue. madscotsman (147), Fairview Heights, Illinois, USA May 4, 2007 Poured black in color with a tan head. A sweet cherry aroma. Had a nice chery flavor with a slight tarty palate. Nice tasting beer
