Commercial Description:
This unique ale begins its life as a powerful and richly sweet stout to which Michigan tart cherries are added. The resulting black brew is complex, sweet and tart with a distinct cherry finish. It will improve with cellaring. Available September - May

Bottle. Pours a jet-black color with a bit of a tan head that fades fairly quicly. Aroma is mostly roasted malts with just a teasing hint of the cherry. The cherry is much more prevalent in the flavor along with the tasty roasted malts. The cherry adds a nice sweetness but also brings a balancing sourness. Rather tasty. Alcohol was very well masked. My wife says she tasted soy sauce, but I did not. Highly recommended.

Pours a dark black color with a small fizzy tan head. Has hints of cherrys of course and coffee. at first taste you can taste the sweetness and then the cherrys and then it has a sour aftertaste.

Black beer with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and vanilla. Great viscosity for a sweet stout. Cherry definitely comes through in this beer. Sweet and sour flavors. Well done.

12 oz bottle. Similar to the Kalamazoo and expedition stouts, this one poured thick and oily. It was black and opaque with ruby highlights. Head was cocoa in color and reduced quickly into a thin film. Smelled of roasty malt with a touch of frosting, somewhat reminiscent of coffee. Full bodied with a smooth mouth feel. Nice mix of roasty malt and tart cherry. Very robust with delicate sweetness that mingles nicely with tart cherry. Improves as it warms to room temperature. I’m quickly becoming a big fan of the Bell’s stouts.

Bottle. I smelled a bit of cherry, but it mostly was a great roasty aroma. When I finally took a sip, the cherry hit me, and it was good. I am not sure if I could drink this often, but it had a nice tart, sour flavor, and the alcohol was masked pretty decently for a beer at 8.5%

[190-20070119] 355mL. Cherry malt roast aroma with double fudge chocolate. Dark brown black body with a creamy peach brown foamy head. Flavour is sour and stout, a little cherry and a fruity aftertaste. Medium-full body, sour tartness hits first. Nice finish, alcohol well-blended.

Cherries seem to have added a reddish tint to the large, umber colored head. Vinous aroma, with sweet malts, red licorice and cherries. The ever present cherries dominate the taste as well. Mild roasted malt flavor brings out a hint of chocolate and other dark fruit. Full bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel with a long lasting finish.

Pours a dark brown with a nice big mocha brown head that just won’t go away. Kinda earthy and very little sweet or sour on the nose. hints of smoke, chocolate and sweet cherry. Flavor has a heavy earthy smokiness to it with a subtle hint of sweet cherry. Not as good as NG Unplugged chery , but very unique.
