jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Feb 10, 2007 Dry aromas of chocolate and cherries. Dark brown and oily in the glass with a little lacing from a medium brown head. Very beery in taste -- light in weight -- wth some sour cherry in the center and on the finish. Pertty sweet, with more juice on the finish, and some chickory/smoky elements from the malts, too. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA Feb 10, 2007 12oz bottle poured a clear black color with a decent tan head. The aroma was mostly chocolate with some small cherry notes peaking threw. Taste was more of just a tart or sour stout than a cherry stout with not much of a cherry flavor. Gotta hold on to the other bottle and cellar it to see how it changes. lumberjack (178), Michigan, USA Feb 9, 2007 Batch 7674. Thick blackish-red complexion. Taste is less than anticipated. My least favorite of Bells stout offerings thus far. BustedFlat (552), Edina, Minnesota, USA Feb 8, 2007 Updated: Apr 30, 2007Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, pitch black with almost no head. Smells of burnt malt, and coffee. No cherry apparent to me. There is a heavy coffee taste up front with some sour cherry, malt and a hint of chocolate. The cherry and malt come through more pronounced as you go and turns into something like chocolate covered cherries. Very smooth and not at all bitter. Very hard to detect any alcohol despite the higher ABV. A decent effort and worth keeping some around.
mynameisjonas (206), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Feb 5, 2007 very good cherry flavor. much better than the cherry ale. darker body when poured. tan head. some chocolate flavor bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Feb 3, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a black body with a small tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, burnt toast, and some sourness. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, and cherries with a dry finish. joss (3630), Garching b. München, Germany Feb 3, 2007 LCRBM2. Black holecolour, brown blanket head. Roast and chocolate, dust, chocolate covered cherries, a clay note. Roast and fruit retronasal. acidic finish. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 2, 2007 Blackish pour with reddish-tan head. Malty choco-coffee aroma with sweet cherries detectable. Taste has a nice mix of coffee with dark cherries that is pretty nice. Medium-full body with a smooth finish. This one is pretty good and very unique. Not quite "top notch" like Kalamazoo stout, but Bell’s comes through with a very good "fruit beer".
