tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 1, 2007 Updated: Jun 7, 2007very nice black colour, some head decent lacing, nose is sweet, coffee and fruit, tastes roasty with sour cherry notes, some choc on the finish, somewhat dry finish pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 27, 2007 Bottle:Dark brown with deep ruby hues and a tan head that plays with your eyes showing colors of cherry skins. The cherries are obviously a large part of the aroma. It is the first thing you smell before you even put your nose to the glass. Once you move in closer, you begin to pick up some of the darker roasts typical of a stout. Pleasant flavors of tart cherries, and burnt carbon. It actually has a semi-bitter finish with lingering flavors of chocolate covered cherries calling you back for another sip. There is a similarity to wine as you sit back and reflect. Yummy! Thanks BuckeyeBoy for sharing this delightful brew. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 27, 2007 Bottle Pours a dark redish black. No, seriously, it;s red-black. Nice full tan head and blocky lacing. Aroma is a sweet roasted chocolately with cherries. A tad mediciney but nice combination. Flavor is sweet thick, and slightly cherry-ey. A bit of soy and woody malt flavors. Very low hops and an unfiltered a bit chalky feel at the end. A mild stout for sure, and the cherry is about right. Nice. Thanks to BuckeyeBoy for sharing this one. BuckeyeBoy (1645), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 27, 2007 12oz bottle Pours out a very very dark red almost black. Topped with a tan head with some red in it. Aroma of a porter with some cherry. The tast is about the same. Pretty good. Thanks Buckybeer for this one. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jan 25, 2007 Thanks to brewblackhole. Pours as a stout should pour, dark black with a thin brown head. The aroma lets you know there is some cherry in there, some roasted malt too. Lacks the complexity and depth one would hope for. The flavor is the same, a little thin and lacking the complexityone would expect. The palate was a little thin too. You could drink it for a session brew but i wouldnt spend time basking in it. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 24, 2007 Bottle shared by Mabel. Black body with a moderate dark brown head. Big dark roasty malt aroma, very light notes of tart cherries and chocolate notes. Fruitiness of cherries is greatly overshadowed by the malt and light roast initially. Tartness from cherries comes out more later, with a mild character that lingers in the finish. Average palate. Decent, but fails to impress, partly because I am just not especially partial to cherries. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Jan 22, 2007 Pours black with a medium brown head; some reddish hints. Aroma was cherry, some chocolate, some roasted malt. Taste is like a not very sour, sour ale. Not much stout taste. Some very light coffee and chocolate. Pretty bland actually. Nephilium (541), Ohio, USA Jan 21, 2007 This beer smells like a sour ale instead of a stout. It pours black, with a thin dark tan head, that just leaves a bit of lacing behind. The taste is a combination of coffee, chocolate, and sour cherries. Not a style I truly like, so be aware of the bias.
