COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique ale begins its life as a powerful and richly sweet stout to which Michigan tart cherries are added. The resulting black brew is complex, sweet and tart with a distinct cherry finish. It will improve with cellaring. Available September - May

Bottled. Pours almost black with a 1 finger tan head. Aroma is faint of chocolate and cherry but with a nice roasted malt structure. As it warms, the cherry becomes tart and aggressive, over that base of sweet malt. Somewhat thin, with a hint of the alcohol in the finish.

12oz bottle, bottled 9/22/11. Pitch-black color, thin fading to minimal brown head, spots of lace. Tart-sweet juicy mouthfeel. Very little discernable carbonation, but what is there is very crisp. Malt and cherry aroma. Nice to sip on.

This was so good. The perfect balance of roasted malts with cherries. I wish this was available year round, I would drink it all the time. Great stout!

Bottle dated 9/22/11 pours a thick dark brown with little tan head and floating cherry pieces in the sediment..nice contrast of red on the dark brown. Aromas of sourness and sweet malt. Tastes sweet chocolate and cream with some tart cherry notes that give a little pucker. Mouthfeel is very thick and rich and creamy with a short sweet finish. Overall, a very interesting combination, not a session beer for sure, but very tasty.

Bottle to snifter glass. Very dark color with noticeable tart cherry flavor. Another great brew from bells!

Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet toasted malt, dark chocolate, cherries, & coffee; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, caramel, dark fruit (notably cherries), and some chocolate; Finish is slightly tart/sour; Fairly well balanced; Overall, nice aroma - but a bit too sweet.

Smells slightly of cherries but mostly hidden by the strong chocolate malt smell. It pours a deep black with a fizzy brown head that settles quickly. It tastes a bit sour from the cherry juice and that is followed by a sweet chocolate taste. Smooth on the palate but it is a bit heavy. Overall this is a beer that I could drink more of and I would like to see if it is a bit better on tap.

Bottle. Mild sour cherry aroma with roasted chocolate. Deep black with a thin tan head. Pretty thick a little smooth but there still is carbonation. More sourness comes out in the taste. A good stout... the cherry makes it different... not the thickest or creamiest, but that’s not a problem.
