gsteph (228), seymour, Tennessee, USA Feb 17, 2008 Pours black with a thin tan head. Good lacing. Sweet fruity aroma, roasted malt, chocolate, and a touch of coffee. Thinner than I expected, but not watery. Flavor is good but the cherries are a little too tart. Finishes with a distinct twanginess. No hop profile to speak of. I like sweet stouts but this one has deviated from its category IMHO. However, overall a very good, creative brew. Definityely worth trying.
GodOfThunder (142), Orlando, Florida, USA Nov 30, 2008 Black with a tan head. Light smells of chocolate and cherries. The taste isn’t what I expected. Strong cherry flavor, but more of a cough syrup kind of flavor. Not a lot of roasted malt, coffee or chocolate coming through. Well, at least not as much as I would like. I think this beer would be better with some more of that chocolate taste. It is still good, but I think it could be better. puggy211 (369), cordova, Tennessee, USA Nov 30, 2008 Pours a gorgeous raven-black with decent tan head that diminishes quickly. Nice expletive tan lacing. Nose is surprisingly mild with subtle notes of chocolately malt and coffee. Flavors continue to be subtle in the mouth with mild cherry, more chocolate malt, French-press coffee, roasted toasted toast, and a slight sour finish. Medium carbonation and full-bodied. Not bad. Very easy drinking. Finishes a little dry, but very clean. I enjoy sour fruit flavors with robust maltiness, when in balance. Flavors--although subtle--blend well here. RIXbeer (102), USA Nov 28, 2008 Jet black, thin ring of head. NO LIGHT COULD PENETRATE THIS BREW. Huge odor of sour cherries along with hints of maraschino cherries, roasted barley, light chocolate and a very faint burnt smokiness. Bitter/sour twang from the cherries are up front and the most noticeable flavor. Light burnt chocolate flavor in the after taste. Extremely full bodied. A must grab! This beer is gonna fill you up and overwhelm the senses. Ok I don’t know how drinkable this beer is, it’s very full and very much a sipper! An awesome brew by Bell’s! 1010 (104), Marysville, Ohio, USA Nov 26, 2008 A - Pours a deep dark dark brown with a small brown head that reduces into a thin line. The beer is completely opaque.
S - Smells of roasted malts
T - Taste cherry sweet then the roasted malts come though. Leaves you with a sweet/tart aftertaste.
M - The cherries just do not seem to jive with the malts to me.
D - You couldn’t have more than one of these because of the severe sweetness.

Reviewed on: 11-23-2008 hombrepalo (545), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown, quick dissipating head with an opaque body. The nose was of strong cherries, cinnamon and port wine. Nice carbonation speckles its headless top. The flavor is quite influenced by the sour cherry flavor, and also by the stout like characteristics. The palate is rich, but not too rich for the sour cherry flavor. Overall different but a miss in my opinion.
