I should know better than to try cherry beers. Not as disgusting as other cherry beers, but that's kind of like saying getting your fingers smashed in a door is not as bad as getting an arm amputated... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the Khyber. Tulip. Thick opaque pour with a frothy brown head that quickly reduced. Very full bodied at the start but seemed to thin a bit as it warmed (would have expected the opposite.) Cherry is noticeable but not overpowering and only mildly sour. Some earthy dark chocolate underneath.

On tap at Gainesville HOB. Pours pitch black with a creamy brown head. Sweet cherry chocolate aroma. Flavor is dominated by cherry flavor, with a hint of chocolate at the end. Mix of sweet and sour cherry. Seems extremely thin for a stout, despite it looking very creamy. Medium carbonation. This is OK, but not a huge fan.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium creamy tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roast, chocolate and booze. Medium mouthfeel with light bitterness and chocolate covered cherry flavor with sweet finish. Good.

...had it on tap at Burkes. This was the 2011 vintage if I remember correctly. Looked good in the glass, bark brown with a tannnish\pinkish almost non-existant head. Not sure why it had such low carbonation. Nice roasted malt flavors blended well with tart cherry notes. Finished smooth and malty with some cherry in there too. Pretty damn good.

Had this after the bourbon barrel aged version. 2011 version. Eat this with fried goat cheese. I'm not kidding. Do it. Tart favor after a year. Less sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an opaque reddish-brown on tap with thin pink-tan head and moderate lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and dark fruits. Taste follows, but the cherry comes through a lot more than the smell. Kind of feels like cough syrup with the thickness and old cherry flavor. Weird, interesting.

On tap at JL Beers. Pours black with tan head. Nice sour cherry aromas mixed with roasted malts. Flavours are dark chocolate with notes of sour throughout. A very nice stout.

Oily, burnt coal aroma. Also very nutty. Cherry is not sour, almost like a succulent grape. Pitch black color, slushy, short-lived light-brown head. Decent lacing. Oily burnt malt flavor, beautiful balance of cherry flavors. More sour than the aroma would suggest. Leaves a sweet/sour finish. Palate is slick and oily: perfect for style. Sticks around for a bit. This is a really magnificent beer. Wonderfully balanced and challenging.
