Very dark and succulent. This beer is near black; yet pours with hints of ruby. It produces a nice, dimpled tan head. The aroma totally belongs to cherries; while the actual flavor harmonizes with a traditional stout. A certain roasted, tartness lingers after swallowing which is rather enjoyable. Pretty decent and above average, yet lacking. michael-pollack (2761), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Smells of cherries, roasted malts, caramel, and alcohol, as well as a little chocolate and coffee. Poured dark dark black with a reddish hue. Small dark brown head diminished almost instantly. No lacing. Opaque. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly tart. Starts with tart cherries, which are followed by sweet, roasty malts and a little chocolate. Medium to full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, roasted malt finish. Overall, a different, but good, sweet stout. jazz88 (2239), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 7, 2002 Bottle. Dark as night with a brown head that quickly laced. Tastes of sour/tart cherries, ginger, brown sugar and roasted barley. Almost a sugary cherry/apple pie aroma. I found this to be well balanced with the fruit and stout elements complimenting each other well. fly (1334), austin, Tejas, USA

Tad more malt sweetness. Tad more anytghing and I was worried that the cherry might not have been just right in the mix. Which I think it is. Sour cherry stout. I really like it. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 8, 2005 Nice stout aroma, chocolate and coffee, with subtle cherry notes in the background. Very dark brown, almost black, very little head. Really nice balance between the classic stout flavors and the cherries, both are clearly there and compliment each other nicely. The lightly tart cherry flavor lingers in the finish. Full bodied, low carbonation. This is what a cherry stout should taste like - a good stout with a pleasant cherry character. None to be had. Sigh. But I did notice a few 2-4s of this Cherry stout. I geberally avoid fruit beers as many are too cloying for me but this one was really excellent. The combination of the roasted malt with the cherry was perfectly balanced with enough sweetness to meld everything together. I think I’ll grab a dozen or so for the stockpile. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2008 Pours a thick black with a very dark but small head. There is a prominent cherry aroma that eminates from the bottle. The taste is a rather tart cherry flavor followed with a bitter roasted finish. The first fruit flavored stout that that ive tried, not bad. AlKHall (161), West Hartford, Connecticut, USA

Aroma is strong coffee, and initial taste is of tart - sweet - sour cherries. Maltiness and alch is well blended. The sweetness can get a little syrupy towards the end, this is definetly a one per drinking session only type beer. A great alternative to traditional stouts.
