Aroma of tart cherries, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is very tart of cherries, but not too tart. This is a tremendous beer. HoppyKev (50), Redford, Michigan, USA

But leave it to Bell’s to make yet another innovative stout. Sweet malt flavor...starts with a strong cherry / chocolate flavor, smooths out and then blasts you with a sour cherry finish. All in all , smooth, medium hops and head, and very interesting. A little too sweet to be in my top tier of Bell’s stouts (how many are there anyway?) but certainly not in the bottom tier either. Was very delicious with slight cherry flavor. Not the best I’ve ever had but with very good thanks to my buddy who let me try half of one....He could have gave me a whole one considering he erased my paper on my computer, but hey he gave me a sprecher Irish Stout but whatever. bhensonb (4406), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2008 Bottle. Tart cherry aroma over toasted malt. Opaque black color with a tan head that left promptly. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is dark, dark, dark. It’s slightly sweet, but the almost unnoticeable cherries do impart a balancing tartness. This is deadly stuff. How can you sip just once? The finish is amazingly complicated. This brew just doesn’t quit. Eventually a woody astringency (cherry pits?) is noticeable. After that some chocolate comes forward. A brew to ponder. belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 8, 2003 Poured with a head disappearing magic trick. One second, Guinness, next second, gone. Nice and dark with some floaties ... the head had a ruby-brown tone while it lasted. The aroma is marvelous, filled with cherry, nutmeg and cinammon. Soft on the tip of the tongue, but some puckering sourness towards the back. Roasted and sweet, a very good dessert beer. BigSkyman007 (194), USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2004 This beer had a beautiful aroma, of chocolate covered cherries, and a very nice rich dark color. However, the flavor was heavily dominated, and overpowered by sour cherry, with hints of chocolate and coffee. This beer would have been great with a more subtle hint of cherry.
