Pours out a nice dark black color with very small head that fades away pretty quickly, well carbonated. Aroma is mostly of roasty malts with some notes of sweet cherry. The taste doesn’t really come out until the beer warms up some. Taste is mainly a nice stout, well balanced by somewhat tart cherries and a slight sweetness left on your lips. I didn’t like the first bottle, but after sampling the second this is another solid product from Bell’s NobleSquirrel (1122), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Update.Draft at Eccentric Cafe. Much fresher this time with a much more flavorful dose of Michigan cherries, lower acidity and less cheesiness this time. Rich body, chocolate and roast. Very smooth and refreshing. Very tasty. marcus (1918), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Bottle from bhesonb. This dark brown beer poured with a modest light brown head and a fragrant roasted malt and coffe aroma with a hint of cherry. The flavor is bitter chocolate, treacle and roasted malt with a sour cherry backwash. A unbique and interesting blend of tastes. Thanks Bill. fishman (349), Philadelphia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 27, 2002 Surprisingly good, I was expecting either lamibic-esque sourness, or an overpowering artificial cherry flavor, happily the cherry balances well with the stout’s roasty malt character. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2004 Extremely pungent brandy-like nose with a peaty background. Reminds me of blackberry brandy we used to drink as a teen. Black with no head. Very sweet and syrupy with a flat texture. Dirty finish. Balsamic vinegar at times. Light dry chalkiness on the roof of the mouth. Thinish body. Smells better than it tastes or feels. Interesting for sure. JPDIPSO (4944), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2002 Dark brown almost opaque liquid with a dark tan small bubbled head. Aroma of vanilla, rasians, anice, sorgum and dark brewers bread. Just a hint of alcohol. Tastes like dark chocolate covered cherry pitts. More carbonation than what apears zips across the tongue. sweetness that last throughout the quaff. Coffee and sweet/sour finish. vyvvy (2069), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 21, 2006 Pours close to black with a dark orange / reddish head that leaves fairly quickly. Aromas has dry dark cherries and dark roasted malt - quite pleasant. Medium body that is lighter than most stouts with light fizzy carbonation. Taste has creaminess from the malt and tartness from the cherries - fairly dark and dry. Finish has lots of tart flavors - doesn’t come across like a stout on the finish, but still a fine and enjoyable beer. This is a very good beer, although a bit overpriced. Reading the stats here it states this is 8.5% - I have no clue where it is, this taste more around the 5.5%. stefanberggren (135), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2003 An interesting stout with a sharp cherry flavor that is bordering on being too much. But if you let it warm and have a bottle that was laid down for a year, it is a lot nicer. I drank a bottle with a black forest cake and it was the bomb! The taste is a malty dark chocolate flavor that is quickly pierced by an intense cherry flavor. The hops shine a little in the complex mire of this stout, but are hardly noticable over the cherry flavor. One should try this beer at least once, but as far as something that I would drink a lot of....no
