This yummy Cherry Stout has a beautiful deep brown color with a deep red tone when put up to the light. The cherry smell is there, but not over powering like a cider and has a nice heavy roasted malt aroma. It tastes wonderful, the cherry is a perfect match with the malt flavors and it is not overpowering at all. Just right, a nice deep but sweet cherry bite. Good feel of roasted malt, smooth and milky. Very drinkable, very good, very yummy.

Dark and creamy. The cherry hits you in both the nose and the mouth. Nice sweetness with a good dollop of alcohol aftertaste. Not being a big fan of fruit beers this is one that I would actually seek out and drink.

Pours a nice oily black with a hint of ruby. Small dense cap of soapy tawny bubbles. Smells like a lovely rich chocolate cake, or better, a chocolate covered cherry. The fruit of the aroma is understated, but very present, adding a depth and interest to the base stout. Flavor is soft dark chocolate and roast up front, then transitioning with a burst into rich, real, slighty tart cherries that linger long and sticky into the finish. Velvetly and thick. like liquid chocolate cake. People talk about dessert beer, but this is the first thing I’ve tasted that I might actually call dessert replacement beer. Fantastic.

Bottle. Hard to detect the cherry from the aroma. However, it comes out in the flavor quite nicely. Tart cherry flavor with the chocolate malt accents in nice harmony. Very good effort, as IMO the fruit beer style is hard to excel at. I really liked this.

Pours a deep dark brown with a medium tan head. The head looks creamy and frothy. Lovely roasted malt aroma with a hint of tartness. Sweet flavor with alternating notes of a lovely cherry tartness and roasted malts. The cherry taste lingers on longer. Thick creamy body with no alcohol burn. Very smooth and leaves an excellent tart cherry taste behind. A truly marvelous beer!

One of my favorite brews from Bell’s, and my most recommended; this starts with a big black body and a dark tan, burnt creamy looking head that leaves plenty of beautiful lacing on the glass. The aroma is gentle, very sweet and mellow, with the chocolate, java, and malty roastedness of a normal stout, yet with a heavy lingering aroma of fresh ripe berries with a tart edge. Attractive marshmallow and strong vanilla notes fill the nose, along with licorice and a doughy, cake-batter-like presence. The taste is wonderfully sweet and slightly tart, with montmorency and maraschino cherries, roasted coffee beans and jam. This beer is awesome on the palate! It starts soft and velvety, and ends very tangy, sharp, and puckering, creating a lovely mouthfeel similar to drinking cherry juice, yet all the while backed with the luscious, invigorating body of a delicious stout. The cherries mellow out the hop bitterness profoundly, and make for a cleaner, sweeter, less drying finish. Very interesting. Delicious!

What a terrific tasting stout. The cherries are very prominent but not too sweet where it becomes overpowering. The color is jet black and the aroma is sweet and robust.

12 oz bottle from the Four Firkins. Deep dark brown pour, very thin head that dissipates and remains as a ring around the glass. Aroma is faint but is a very nice cherry smell. Flavor is tangy cherry with a hint of chocolate. Finish is sweet chocolate with a hint of cherry. Awesome beer if you like cherry. I’ve also had a cask conditioned version of this that was amazing, try it if you ever get a chance.

12oz pour from bottle. Very dark, opaque brown body with nice tan head. Fruit, dough, and dark roasted malt in the nose. Cherry and more roasted malt in initial flavor, then bitter chocolate in nice finish. Great mouth feel.

Really love this beer. Just enough tart/sour to balance the sweet. Roasted barley comes through nicely as well. Very enjoyable on a cold evening.
