Pours from the bottle to a dark brown with little head or lacing. Nose is a nice mix of cherry fruit and a hint of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and tart, with a sweet cherry and alcohol taste. Alcohol comes on strong toward the end to dominate the finish, but still a most pleasant beer.

Bottle into glass at Marikka’s. Pours a chocolate brown with little to no head. Aroma is chocolate and cherries. Finish starts chocolate and becomes sour cherry.

12oz bottle. Nice dark malt aroma, some cherry, some coffee. Taste is nice up from, plenty of cherry juice then fades into a ashy finish, some metallic taste too. Kind of a let down.

Aroma: rich stout with some cherry; Appearance: pitch black with tan head that dissipates slowly; Taste: follows nose but cherry adds an unpleasant tang that doesn’t quite fit; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: definitely not my favorite; disappointing brew from Bells.

July 28, 2015. Bottled December 2, 2011. Tasting at jtclockwork’s, thanks for sharing!
Black with a tiny tan head. Aroma is sweet cherries, toffee, milk chocolate, hints of prunes and sherry. Taste is light to medium sweet toffee and berries, slight tartness from the cherries and a touch of dried fruits. Light dry finish with roasted and tart notes. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation.

Draught. Nice mix of sweet chocolaty notes and sour, fruity cherry notes. Good with desserts or by its own.

Pitch black pour with a large thick mocha head and decent retention. Fair lacing. Dark chocolate and dark cherry licorice flavor. Not as sweet or as creamy as i expected. Decent but disappointing. 7.0 ABV is undetectable.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served displaying a black/brown hue with some ruby highlighting, a presentable layer of brownish tan head foam that also showed a hint of reddish tinge & good persistence, with ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was malty, roasted, cocoa, and cherry. Better than medium bodied, the carbonation was low, but possessed enough fizz to elevate the flavor, the taste was similar notes to the aroma’s, tart, slightly woody, cherry that was not overpowering, too sweet, or dessert-like, with a touch of dryness to the finish. Tasty & balanced.

12oz bottle much thanks to beerman6686! Pours black with a small creamy dark copper head of foam. Aroma of dark chocolate covered cherries, tobacco, coffee, cough syrup, and vanilla. Taste of black malts, dark chocolate, black cherry, tobacco, coffee beans, earth, and caramel. Complex, rich, and delicious!

Sample on tap @ HO1K Beers. Pours a dark brown with almost no head or lacing. Light Aroma of tart cherries. Starts out with a slightly tart and tangy cherry flavor. Also has hints of dark chocolate and a woody earthy flavor. The tartness disappears rather quickly but it still tastes good. A little thin for a stout but still pretty enjoyable.
