BigMilly8 (373), Holiday, Florida, USA Jan 15, 2008 From bottle : Pours a quite dark brown, possible black, with evil looking red highlights. Thin light brown head, that dissapates to a little ring around the rim. Nose is a little weak at first, but gets more profound as the beer warms a little. A malty smell is dominante, with small hints of sourness and some cherries finally find there way out and into my nostrils. Taste is really very good. Sweet, smooth, and has a wonderful little tart middle, then finishes with a pleasent roasted aftertaste. Small amounts of cherries are present, but are more noticable as you work your way through the beer, and it warms a little closer to room tempature. Very good though, very impressed, and countinue to love Bells Beers.
verymerrymonk (212), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2008 Pours a deep black body with a thin brown head. Sour with cherry up front leading into roasted coffee and chocolate, then a sweet cherry finish. Very nice. Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 8, 2008 On draught @ the Eccentric Café. Pretty much pitch black, 1cm tan head. More stout-like than fruit beer dominant, this is a beer that I hoped to enjoy a bit more. You get the acidity, especially towards the end, but not so much juiciness. Otherwise, the base stout is from Bells, so solid, medium-bodied and with an agreeable texture and luscious chocolatey roastiness. More carbonation than most in this one, but it remains smooth and not clashing. kegbear (103), Orange, California, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle. I thought this was very good actually. Reminded me of a mix of Kalamazoo and NG Belgian Red. Light on the maltyness, but the tart cherry definately comes through. BeerBaron617 (153), Novi, Michigan, USA Oct 6, 2008 I’m sorry to say that this is the first beer from Bells that I am very dissapointed with. To be frank, It tastes like an amazing stout, with very tart cherry juice mixed in. I was really expecting an amazing stout, with a nice cherry afterthought. It pours a very dark brown. and has quite a misleading aroma, without any hint of cherry. It really does go downhill with the flavor. CapnJazz (13), Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2008 12 oz bottle. Was a little disappointed with this one. Was not particularly malty, as I expected, nor was the cherry presence strong enough to warrant this being anything special. Underwhelming in just about every sense, yet not so drinkable to be a session beer or anything like that. Some coffee, a good bit of bitterness, and a slight lingering cherry impression. Would like to see this amped up quite a bit.
