Pours an opaque, very dark brown with a short-lived, fizzy, reddish mocha head. Aromas of smoky coffee and cherry flavored chewing tobacco. Smooth, wet, slick, and no annoying carbonation. Ample cherry. It’s the flavor remnants after just eating a chocolate covered cherry.

Not incredibly thrilled with this Bell’s offering. Pours nearly black with thin mocha head. Aroma is predominantly roasted malt with just a whiff of cherries. I like the idea of the fruit-tinged stout, but this one tastes a little off. Heavy roasted malt backbone, burnt coffee grinds, super tart cherry. For me, the tartness of the cherries just didn’t groove well with the roasty, overly bitter backbone of this brew. Ho-hum.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Black-colored with a tan head. Aroma of some cherries, roastiness and olives notes. Sourish flavor with roastiness, cherries and a bit of chocolate. Medium-bodied. Tasty.

Inky black pour with chocolate brown head. Pretty standarf stout aroma with a hint of tartness. Flavor is an awesome balance of dry slightly bitter stout and tart cherry. Finish is clean. Really enjoyable balance of bitter and tart.

Weird, but good. Sweet stouts are strange enough, but the cherry tartness isn’t the worst combination. Tried courtesy of the Cunigans.

Tap at the Drafting Room, Exton, 27/11/13.
Pitch black with a good sized dirty tan covering that retains well.
Nose is a big roast blast, light smokey tones, mineral notes, dark bitter chocolate, berry fruit tang.
Taste is once again big on roastyness, subtle cherry tones, Black Forest Gateaux, dark chocolate, brown sugars, dark toffee notes.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying finale with bitter roast and tarte cherry skin.
Solid sweet stout carrying a good bitter edge which balances it out nicely.

Draught. Pours a thick black color with no head on it. Nose is very roasty and inviting, with just a faint whiff of cherry in there. Taste, on the other hand, is quite sour and overwhelmed by the cherry flavor (which I detest). There is a slight bit of roasting under that cherry, but it’s hard to get to. Thank god my wife drank this beer.

Bottle. Pours a deep black with minimal head. Fairly mild aroma of chocolate and roast flavors - not much cherry on the nose. The cherry comes through strongly in the flavor, though, and is surprisingly tart. It’s supported by a sweeter malt backbone, with a lot of chocolate and some coffee on the finish. Not bad, a little odd.
