3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
For a Scotch ale, this could be better. The alcohol, for me, is way too low. The nose is weak and mostly watery hops. There isnít much malt or dark flavors in this; itís very hop forward. Watery and thin mouth feel. Could be better.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bottle. Some malty hay notes and grassy hops and a bit of a yeasty smell in the aroma. Itís an amber color with a very fluffy, lingering off-white head. Itís a malty-sweet flavor akin to a white peach or a mango, with only enough grassy hop flavor to balance. This is not your typical, spiced-up Christmas Ale. Itís very subtle and would probably be just as appropriate in June as it is in December. I guess Iím slightly disappointed that itís not a bit more "Christmas-y", but itís plenty tasty in itís own right.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a nice clear, deep copper, with a thin white head. Sweet, bready aroma. Taste is rye bread with grassiness on the back end. A little lacking on the mid-palate.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pour to shaker. Dark, orange/amber color. Taste not characteristic of scotch ale; itís like it doesnít fit neatly into a style. Bit of fruitiness; malt. Just so-so.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A murky amber color with a white head. Thereís a hint of some hoppy bitterness, but otherwise thereís not much there in terms of flavor or aroma. Has a smooth watery feel. Disappointing.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
White song, hazy amber colored. Sweet caramel aroma, a classic scotch ale really good example of the style but not necessarily anything to write home to after that.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Meh. Everything about this beer is mild. There isnít much to love or hate. This beer is to other Christmas/Scottish ales as a session beer is to a robust pale ale.
Pours a hazy orangey-amber color with a thin off-white head. The little aroma that is there is malty. The flavor is mild, almost watered down, but itís pleasant enough to drink. The caramel malt notes dominate because not much else is going on. There is a surprising amount of carbonation in the palate, just on the border of being off-putting.
If youíre looking to bring a beer to a social function where most of the people there are satisfied with crappy beer, then this is probably the one for you. It wonít offend you, and itís decent enough, and you wonít have to deal with the anguish of having Philistines complaining about how damned overpowering your Alpha King is...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours somewhat murky amber with a frothy off white/khaki head that slowly fades and shows nice lacing. Aroma is malty with nuts and a faint burnt caramel. Taste has subtle bitterness and malt all the way through with more nuttiness and caramel/ toffee flavors, but it is rather light. Palate is thin to medium and has a lively carbonation.
