Again - beautifully smooth with caramel creaminess, yet a lighter mouthfeel and a crispier feel. Mild hop crispness in the taste and aroma. Definite yeastiness in the aroma with a mild malt profile.
Sweet and slight alcoholic sting on the aroma. Amazing beer for its price!! Definitely a favorite. Should be drunk out of a snifter or tulip - let the sweet and slightly thick body build in your mouth.

Clear copper pour with no head to speak of. Mostly caramel malt aroma but faint. Definitely got the sweet, creamy doppelbock flavor Iím accustomed to. Loses points for the lack of head, but definitely a tasty offering. If itís brewed for a Fat Tuesday release, I hope they donít offer this to the zoo down on Bourbon St. because it would make it more of a shit show than it already is. Good brew from one of my favorite brewers regardless.

12 oz bottle poured into an english tulip pint. Rich malt aromas start the beer off, particularly bread, and caramel. Thereís some doughy and citrus notes as well, and some hints of spice and a faint we cardboard or maybe a wood scent. After the initial pour, the aromas are mostly muted, although caramel is most prevalent. Initially a huge, soft, creamy brown-yellow head sits atop this beer, but it reduces to a thin, whispy, dishwater layer fairly quickly and leaves no lacing. The body is a brilliant amber-orange color. A medium-high malty sweetness is balanced by a light bitterness. The body is rich, medium full, with abundant carbonation that falls somewhere between soft and fizzy. Its an oily texture that goes down smooth. Nuts, figs, toffee, and a touch of pine come through on the mouth in addition to the molasses and citrus that came through on the nose. Thereís a faint dark chocolate taste too that shows up near the finish, but is soon supplanted by a bready & caramel finish with a light , but noticeable herbal spice (anise?) and a root beer finish. Itís rather refreshing, and mostly clean, although a mellow, mostly molasses with a touch of burnt toast, flavor swells in the aftertaste.

Decent. Pours clear mahogany without head or lacing. Some light coffee and dark chocolate. Light caramel aroma as well. Some nice pungence in finish that showcases the roast a little more. Tap at Churchkey.

Bottle (dated 2/10/14) poured into a tulip-style goblet. Pours a nice clear amber color with half a finger of off-white head that fades quickly. Aromas of caramel, sweet malt, sweet dark fruit. Tasting notes of sweet dark fruit including plums and figs, caramel, sweet malt, light booze. Medium carbonation, sticky and slightly thin mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a dry finish. I donít drink a lot of doppelbocks but this is pretty nice!

On tap at Barcade. Aroma of brown sugar, toffee, browned apples and raisin. Pours red brown with not much of a head or film. Taste is sticky sugar, some dark fruits and a weird red apple peel finish. Wasnít super impressed with this one.
