Commercial Description:
Consecrator is a traditional doppelbock-style fermented with a Bohemian lager yeast. Reddish brown in color, with a mild hop profile, Consecrator is a well balanced, full bodied beer with hints of caramel and molasses in its smooth, malty finish. Brewed for a Fat Tuesday release.

2008 release, I was able to get a couple singles from the local bottle shop. Pours a clear, vibrant reddish-brown with a steady carbonation. There is an initially thick, khaki colored head that diminishes to a thin layer coupled by lots of spotty lacing. Aroma is reminiscent of dark, musty fruits. Brown sugar and raisins are prevalent as well. Velvety smooth and soft mouth feel, lighter on the palate than was expected. Sweet and calm, this is a very drinkable Doppelbock. Flavor mirrors the aroma quite well. Mildly sweet with lots of plums and raisins along with a hint of banana and vanilla. Plenty of caramel, a touch nutty. The taste is rounded out by a very subtle wine characteristic. I found this to be surprisingly mild and well put together. Far too often this style can be overpowering or too sweet, but this is nicely crafted.

Pours a pretty dark but clear reddish orange with a small beige froth. Very fruity nose, raisins, red grapes, malty, spicy, lightly grainy, grenadine? Tasty! not too sweet, smooth with just enough grassinesss to make it interesting. Lightly rich chewy caramel, butterscotch, light raisin and cinnamon. Smooth medium body with fantastic fine carbonation that isn’t abrasive.

12oz bottle..... pours a mostly transparent amber brown with light beige swirls throughout from a head perspective.... sweet candied sugary fumes make their way out of the glass that almost resembles a darf fruit liqueur of sorts.....flavors generally follow suit but less sweet from what the aroma implied dry, somewhat boozy finish.

In short: a well-rounded “session” doublebock.
How: Bottle 12oz, age unknown, from HogtownHarry, thanks a lot Harry
The look: Cloudy orangey brown body topped by a very small beige head
In long: Nose of dates, toffee and some fresh cigars. Interesting blend of fruity flavours (mainly figs, dark grapes and red berries), earthy tree roots, pecans and thick caramel. Overall feeling of a big fruity brown cake. Leafy hops with a tobacco leaves character are perfectly fitting. A bit sweet but somehow fitting. As the beer warmed up red fruits and tropical fruits started coming through. Tasty, round, refreshing (rare for the style) and highly drinkable, a beer to get drunk on. Whether a beer or catholic priests, Consecrators should be kept away from children.

A very copper/red pour with light white head and lace. Aroma of malt and brown sugar. A caramel malt flavor that borders on being sweet a very nice warmth. Carbonation and mouthfeel very solid. A beer I’ve had often and thought that I had rated now I have. A very nice DB.
