12 oz. bottle. Ar: Big malty aroma with notes of toffee and mild molasses. Ap: Pours a slightly hazy amber red with a one inch manila head that dissipates fairly quickly. T: Heavy malt sweetness with notes of molasses, toffee, and cinnamon/clove. Very mild bittering on the finish, mildly tannic with little to no alcohol burn. P: Mildly carbonated, pretty thick and very sticky. O: Solid beer, I think Iím just not huge on this style anymore.

12 oz bottle served in a Unibroue snifter. Bottled 9 Feb. 2012. {from June 2012 notes} Pours a clear, dark mahogany, with a short-lived, one-finger, off-white head. The aroma is a fruity mix of medium toasted malts and a dash of hops. There is much more fruit in the mouth than in the nose, with suggestions of prunes, figs and cooked raisins. A subtle hint of butterscotch toffee in the flavor. Some hints of brandy in both the nose and the taste. In fact, the nose is a bit boozy although the high ABV is fairly well hidden in the mouth. Rather sweet, particularly mid-taste but even in the lingering, fruity aftertaste. M: medium body; low carbonation that I felt should be a tad higher. O: A very drinkable imperial dopplebock that is a bit sweeter and fruitier than usual.

Nice. Clear brown pour with light reddish tint and thin tan head. Aroma is primarily caramel and a little paper. Taste is sweet caramel and molasses with a nice little (very little) hop bite at the end. Enjoyable.try it with a creamy brie.

From a bottle. A little on the sweet side for my taste, but much keeping it refreshing, but tasty.

A solid Dopplebock that rivals the Duck Rabbit version. A very tasty beer that gets better with the finish.

Might be an old bottle. Pours muddy brown with medium sized tan head. Aromas of wheat and some raisin/fig though nothing stands out too much. Taste is medium bodied, full flavored bock with a good roasty malt going on. Did not pick up on the molasses (as noted), but caramel notes come through.

Bottle from Sean - thanks! Clear amber pour with a tan head. Raisin spiced dough and sweet malt in the aroma. Clean and balanced dough and spots of sugar with molasses and softer malt in the taste. Slight hop bitterness in the finish. Clean, lightly coating mouth feel. Really great take on the style.
