nbutler11 (125), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 1, 2008 Quality. Pours from the tap like molasses with hints of ruby in the darkness. Trim white head and an invisible cloud of bourbon floating on top. Loaded with cocoa. Easily the best beer they had on tap when I was there last. SQNfan (436), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Jul 7, 2008 On tap at the Cafe: This poured deep brown, almost black, in color with a thin head. The nose showed off scents of bourbon, smoke, vanilla, caramel and chocolate. In the mouth it was lighter than the nose suggested. While overall quite nice, the barrel aging was a bit potent and distracted more than anything. Maybe it was the specific barrels as the beer seemed like with different barrels it would have come off as softer, rounder and more complex. drewbeerme (1785), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 6, 2008 on tap at the eccentric cafe. pours very dark brown with off white head. nose of whiskey, toasty, vanilla. flavor is sharp whiskey, buttery, caramel, watery, a bit charred. very prickly watery alcoholy finish. bourbon is just way over done. punkrkr27 (343), Clawson, Michigan, USA Jun 12, 2008 Tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Dark mahogany colored pour. Sweet molasses aroma with notes of alcohol, rum, butterscotch, oak, and vanilla. Flavor reflects the aroma but with some plum, fig, licorice and a flowery hint of rose in the finish. Oily medium-full body. fiver29 (303), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Jun 6, 2008 On tap pours dark brown with a tan head. Has a nice aroma of chocolate and bourbon. Has a medium mouthfeel. Taste is mostly vanilla with some bourbon on the side and has a nice chocolate aftertaste. Overall I really liked this beer more than any other beer I had on tap today.
