From notes. On tap at Bell’s Funvitational on September 12. Rating #1200. The pour is a pitch black used motor oil with a thin ring of dark khaki head and no lace. The aroma is beautiful. Bourbon, toasted oak and malts. great vanilla and a light bitter licorice to go along with a nice char and dark chocolate. The flavor is also great. Dark roast, heavy malts, bitter licorice, nice toasted oak, dark chocolate, and great vanilla. There is a little bit of a bourbon heat to it that I really like. The vanilla and sweetness are a nice change from the resounding bitterness that the regular brings. The mouth feel is thick and creamy with a soft light carbonation and a lingeringly sweet vanilla and bitter licorice. Not as good as I was expecting, but really good. The barrel seems to take a little of the edge off of the regular. Turns out, I liked that edge a little more.
