The darkest beer we make; this Imperial stout contains double the malt and five times the hops of our Kalamazoo stout and is perfect for cellaring as its complex character will evolve over time. Available October-March.

Pours thick black with thin brown head. Heavy roast, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, fig and alcohol sweetness. Flavor is slight booze, and all the flavors of the nose. Rich an oily, thick chewy mouthfeel. Amazing beer.

2006 bottle. Pours a rich thick black with a rich brown head. Wonderful aroma of chocolate, coffee and vanilla, perhaps a hint of hops; can’t ask for much more. A rich complex flavor of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla as the nose indicates, with roasted malts and a surprising amount of hops...more so than the other imperial stouts I’ve had. Alcohol isn’t present at all; just a smooth, rich, creamy mouth feel that begs to be rolled around for a good long time. Is this the quintessential imperial stout?

Black. Aroma is malty, coffee, and chocolate. Very little hops detectable. Flavor is overwhelmingly coffee, malt and chocolate. Its got a slightly burnt flavor that Im not a huge fan of. It’s more bitter than sweet. Certainly a winter beer, and a good one at that.

Out of the bottle, pours deep opaque black with creamy tan head. Aroma gives strong chocolate and coffee with a small tinge of hops. Very thick on the palate, tastes of chocolate, coffee, hops, and a smoky flavor. Finishes bad, with a very strong alcohol taste. Overall an excellent stout.

Bottle. Blackish with brown highlights and a tiny light tan head. Choclate malt aroma with toffee and a bit of hops. Rich malt with roast and coffee and backing hops. More bitterness than I wuld expect. Fuller bodied. Malt lingers and turn to a piney/resiny bitterness. Alcohol noticeable, but compliments. Nice complexity.

This is an intense drinking experience. Pours jet black with a thick tawny colored head. Intense aromas of java, raisin, and cacao bean penetrated this drinker’s senses. The flavor is heavily bitter and lasting. Notes of smoked wood and chocolate are present. This beer is full bodied and completely envelops the taste buds. Extrodinary!

Bottle. Poured a jet black with a two finger tan head. Aroma was coffee, lots of alcohol, and raisin. Flavor was thick and creamy very rich. Medium body. Very rough in the finish, alcohol all the way. It was very good though.

bottle, fresh. Pours a mean, thick, oily black. Fair size dark coffee brown head foams up and sticks around well, plenty of lace. Big heavy roasted grain aromas, dark bitter espresso, and some lactic sour notes. Flavors of burnt licorice, bakers cocoa, unsweetened coffee, some light caramel and raisin sweetness in the background. Heavy and sharp spicy floral hop bite creates some balance. Booze is hardly apparent despite the 10.5%. Palate is thick and chewy, full flavored, with a decently clean finish. Superb Imp. Stout that will likely onl improve with age.
