Poured and clinged like two stroke oil. Roasted marshmallows and a ton of alcohol on the palate. Much love here. Gmoney (253), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2009 One of those beers I’ve just never rated for some reason....I guess it’s about time. Full of chocolatey roasted malts. Some coffee...a little soy...the usual flavor suspects. This bottle was a couple of years old I believe, but the bitterness is still fairly assertive. Smooth as can be for a 10.5% stout. This is just a beautifully made beer that’s full of flavor. We enjoyed some orange slices and split some dark chocolate along with our bottle, which made for a fine dessert. If you’re looking for a perfect dessert stout that is full of flavor, yet well-rounded, this is it. SaulusHumulus (47), Helsinki, Finland
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 14, 2009 Bottled. (Cracked Kettle) Pours wonderful dark brown with a fairly big-sized, brown head that also leaves some lacing. A nice aroma of wonderful oaky woodiness and vanilla, bitter dark chocolate, roasted coffee, some salty liquorice and molasses. This certainly is no sweet Imperial Stout, and for a change, I like that. Slightly tangy on the palate. Hopped flavor is salty. It has coffee (pretty dark roast, almost espresso), dark chocolate, peppery spiciness and a hint of sweet caramel. What comes next, totally blows my mouth. A massive bitterness, like you’d have a 100% cocoa chocolate and the darkest espresso in your mouth at the same time. Wonderfully, bitterly hopped taste lingers and lasts. Though this beer isn’t phenomenal (there’s just something that is missing that would make this a real classic), it certainly is really, really great. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Pours a beautiful brown, lacing head with an almost black body. Smells of molasses, toast, and bitter chocolate. Tastes like toast, chocolate note, and bitter. Finish is bitter, sticky, molasses, and espresso. Nightfall (647), Athens, Greece

Ripe fruit aroma, chocolate, raisins and a tiny hint of bitter olive in the back. The falvor is dominated by malts, chocolate, coffee, hints of licorice and caramel and some salt. Finishes very bitter. Extremely full bodied. Very nice and I think it will age even better. monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Updated: Aug 18, 2009Batch 8864 Pours out thick and black, like old motor oil. Body is black as ever with a pretty chunky, medium sized head. A little swirling can change the color from light tan to a dark brown, and everywhere between. The aroma is full of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, slight dark fruit, and a touch of anise. The flavor is amazing, similar to aroma and sweet at first, then becomes oaky and dry. Both fluffy and thick on the palate, with an exceptionally long finish. Great Beer.
