COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of the earliest examples of the Russian Imperial Stout in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with vintage aging in mind, as its profile will continue to mature and develop over the years. A huge malt body is matched to a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruits, and other aromas. Intensely bitter in its early months, the flavors will slowly meld and grow in depth as the beer ages.
Available October-March.

JLLSU (238) - Acworth, Georgia, USA - NOV 11, 2012
12oz bottle---->tulip. Pours pitch black with a medium dark khaki head that disappears quickly and leaves little lacing. Aroma is sweet artificial chocolate candy and mild licorice. Taste is chocolatey, mild coffee, licorice, hop bitter, and alcohol burn. Palate is a bit on the thin side. Enjoyable overall, but not in the top tier of Impys.

TET (2435) - Kaarina, FINLAND - MAY 1, 2016
A pitch black beer, a head is small and dark brown. Aroma has liquirice, salt liquirice, riped fruitness and plums, sweetness, richness of malts. Taste is very intensive, roastiness, salt liquirice, coffee, some salt, balanced sweetness. Full bodied, not stickyness, low carbonation, smooth palate. Very powerful and intensive. The great and complex beer.

Bottle at home. Thick brown super stable head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, liquorice, soy sauce. Taste is cocoa, sharp bitter, bit of coffee, roastey malts, alcoholic. Needed some sips to start liking the beer. Well balanced and a very good imperial stout... Not getting why this is the 13th best beer worldwide though? Would like to try this aged!

Heavy bodied and viscous with muted carbonation. Pours like used motor oil with a small coffee-colored head. Sweet coffee, roasted malt, good baking chocolate, raisin, smoke, tart plum. Strong sweet and bitter finish.

Bottle shared with Niller, sourced from Mikkeller Bottle Shop, Copenhagen - pours black with tan head. Dark roasted malty aroma and taste, with prominent chocolate, some coffee, caramel, nice dark fruits, subtle vanilla throughout, roasted finish. Solid.

BrettGT (73) - Aalborg, DENMARK - APR 24, 2016
One and a half year old. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, meat, toasted bread, dark fruits. Pours pitch black with a creamy brown head that lasts very well. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter. Aroma flavours are transferred very nicely to the taste. Medium full body, creamy mouthfeel, average to soft carbonation, roasty bittersweet finish. Lives up to its reputation!

Bottle. Pitch black pour with brown head. Aroma has toffee, roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Texture is thick and dense. Taste is fresh and complex. Low carbonation. No hint if the high ABV. Extremely well composed

330ml bottle (thanks martjoobolut). Very dark brown color. Tiny size, bubbly brown head, stays. Roast, raisins, dark fruits, marmalade, orange, sweet and alcohol in aroma. Roast, dark fruits, bit ashy, raisins in taste. Spicy hops and intense roast in aftertaste. Bit harsh in a mouth. Boozy brew.

Flaske. Været på jagt efter denne Øl længe, derfor den fine rating. Lettere skuffet på en ellers helt fin imod, men så heller ikke mere. Overrasket over den med næsten 3000 ratings ligger så højt.
