The darkest beer we make; this Imperial stout contains double the malt and five times the hops of our Kalamazoo stout and is perfect for cellaring as its complex character will evolve over time. Available October-March.

Bottle. Smoked aroma with lots of chocolate notes and not much in the way of coffee. Pleasant and very sweet aroma. Opaque black pour with orange/tan head that trickles away ever so slowly. Milky, sweet, chocolate, ethanol twinge, more sweetness to finish. Lots of chocolate in this guy and not much coffee. This is an absolutely gorgeous Imperial Stout and thankfully it is not overhyped. This outperforms Storm King and Sam Smith’s and all other beers I’ve had with the exception of St. Bernadus abt 12. Many props to jsquire for this one!!

Glad I got to try this. Pours like molasses, thick, syrupy, black and stains the glass. Arouma of dark sugars and fruits. Mouthfeel is very thick and smooth. Taste is almost like brandy and chocolate infusion and finishes with a wonderful warm alcohol glow.

My god. Not much head, but a very thick pour. A well balanced and powerful stout. Aromas like a merry-go-round of coffee, roast, chocolate, bitter stuff, ripe fruit. Oily, sticks to the roof of my mouth palate. This was aged 10 months, would like to try an older one. One of my favorites!

Bottle. Black with hints of burnt mahogany. Very little head to speak of. Smells of chocolate and vanilla. Heavy and sweet on the tongue with a hint of sour. Perhaps the last is the result of a bad decanting job, but I’ll be able to tell better on the next bottle. Rich and creamy hints of coffee chocolate and oak with a taste that lasts and lasts.

The appearance is a black color, dark tan head, with a vicosity which clings to the glass. Very beautiful. The aroma is equally beautiful, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, an earthy quality, and a spicy/soy component. The flavor is also nice dark chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla extract, cream, and a little bit of soy sauce again. The finish was a lovely hop bittering, with notes of pine, grapefruit and resin. Gorgeous thick, oily mouthfeel. Among the best.

Picked up in a trade from Exiled. 2007 vintage. Pours pitch black with basically no head. What little head is present is is a brown color. Aroma is strong coffee with some roasted malt and dark fruit. the flavor is heavy on the roasted malt with some smokiness. Some dark fruit and bitter chocolate as well. There is also a slight soy sauce character to the beer. The alcohol has a nice alcohol warming affect. Very thick body and low carbonation. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. This one might have improved with more carbonation.

Pours jet black with a small brown head that sticks around for a while. The aroma is dominated by chocolate and coffee notes. Taste is pretty complex with the strongest notes being bitter dark chocolate and coffee. Alcohol is masked pretty well. GREAT STOUT.
