One of the earliest examples of the Russian Imperial Stout in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with vintage aging in mind, as its profile will continue to mature and develop over the years. A huge malt body is matched to a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruits, and other aromas. Intensely bitter in its early months, the flavors will slowly meld and grow in depth as the beer ages.
Available October-March.

Great Stout! This is the best imperial stout that I’ve had. I am going to judge all imp stouts against this beer.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black colour. Thin line of beige froth on top. Coffee beans, cocoa, chocolate, cream, hints if vanilla in the aroma. Milk chocolate and some cocoanibs at first. Slight coffee in the middle. Littlebit spicy. Chocolate in the end. Intensive roast. Very well bakanced, very well drinkable, not so heavy bodied, wonderful imperial stout.

Taste is huge malty and starts quite sweet but ends with long bitter and dry aftertaste. Flavors of coffee, licorice, caramel, dark fruits, tobacco, bitter elements. Oily mouth feeling. Strong licorice. Thick palate, almost like a Dark Horizon kind of extra strong IS. Some alcohol feel but not disturbingly. Very enjoyable.

355 ml bottle from Saveur Bière, pkgd 11/06/15. Thanks to Werckmeister!
Pitch black, oily body, with a small, dense, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of espresso, liquorice, soy sauce, cocoa, dark chocolate, tobacco, spices, vanilla, dark fruits.
Tastes of various, intense coffee notes, tobacco, wood, liquorice, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, dark fruits, some soy sauce, some hops.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes dry, roasty-bitter, wooden, with coffee beans, liquorice, tobacco, dry cocoa, spices, some soy sauce, some bitter hops.

Tasty, although I was expecting a bit more maybe. Intensely roasty-bitter and dry, almost a bit harsh, with lots of coffee and liquorice notes. Not my preferred kind of an Imperial Stout, I like it a bit smoother, while still a great style example I would drink again.

Pours black with a creamy tan head. Big, intense stout, that manages to drink incredibly smoothly. Loads of roast, treacle, earthy, moderate bitterness, moreish. Very good.

Pullo @ Saveur-Biere.

Botella. Presencia negra opaca con corona beige compacta y persistente. Carbonatacion media baja.
