COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of the earliest examples of the Russian Imperial Stout in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with vintage aging in mind, as its profile will continue to mature and develop over the years. A huge malt body is matched to a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruits, and other aromas. Intensely bitter in its early months, the flavors will slowly meld and grow in depth as the beer ages.
Available October-March.

This pours a pitch black color with a slight light brown head. The aroma is rich and very malty. The taste is rich, robust, and very flavorful. Delicious!

Bottle. Pours a black color with tan head. Roasty, burnt, licorice aromas. Roasty, licorice, malty, syrupy flavors. Very nice full bodied stout. Not my favorite, because it has some black licorice flavors that Im not a fan of, but its still a top notch stout.

Nose is like rocking Germania after a 48 night, just incredie. Slight Alcohol, Chocolate and more Flavors then I know to mention, complete roller coaster ride. No flavors are slight, they only seem that way in relation to everything else.

330ml bottle served in a snifter glass. A: Pours a deep brown to black color forming a medium and nice thin bubbled beige head. Medium to low retention and only few spotty lacings left on the glass. A thin layer persists for quite a long time S: Strong roasted malts and coffee aroma. Licorice and very earthy yeasts. Strong notes of wood too. Very earthy and boozy in the end T: Strong roasted malts, mainly. Strong notes of coffee, brown bread, licorice, oak, earthy yeasts. Upfront taste is slightly sweet and molasses but, in overall, its very bitter and roasted. Intense. And really bitter as an American Imperial Stout should be M: Heavy, thick, creamy and molasses body. Medium to low carbonation. Intense roasted and bitter aftertaste O: Great drinkability. An American RIS classic [ BA Review @ 7/3/2013 ]
