4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle purchased individually from Beer Crazy in Urbandale, IA. I first enjoyed this brew with my pal Adam in Palm Bay, Florida. Thankfully, Iowa beer legislation has changed and we can now bring in great beers like Expedition Stout. I didn’t wait for my beer to get completely cold before I decided to drink it, and I think that really helped bring out the aroma. This stout’s aroma really shows off its malt and hops. It seduces you with promises of indulgent, dirty, no holds barred frolic. My beer poured golden black with a fine but rich head. It is pleasantly bitter, mellowed only by a bourbon / oak woodiness. Full of body and the finish lingers like low voltage a/c running through your mouth. Great beer!

From a bottle dated 10/12/12. Thick viscous black pour with thin tan head. Big malt profile with dark chocolate, plum coffee and caramel. Deliciously complex , sip on it as it warms up and an amazing personality emerges. A truly great Stout!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very dark brown with a very large, melted chocolate ice cream colored head. Chocolate, mildly smoky, and sour woody aromas. Viscous and chewy texture. Fresh melon flesh near the rind, dark chocolate, and finishing with a smoky, strong coffee flavor. Quite unique.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a deep black color with a thin creamy light brown head. Aroma is full of roasted malts, chocolate. Taste packs a punch with heavy roasted malt, light bitters, light chocolatey sweetness. Coats the palate with a thick creamy goodness with a light lingering bitter burnt chocolate. Awesome stout!

Pours inky black with a frothy tan head. Aroma is full of dark rich roast malt, chocolate, espresso, and strong stone fruits. Slight hints of booze near the end. Flavor is amazing blend of heavily sweet fruits with a bitter long duration throughout. Great beer, Absurdly good

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black with a nice thick tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, faint coffee, and something heavier than molasses - treacle maybe. Taste is smooth roasted malts & coffee up front, taking on a creamy (not quite) chocolate mid and finishing with an easy roasted bitterness.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle. Bottled 7/26/13. Pours a medium, well retained, dark beige head, with some lacing over a black brown (SRM 40) body.....nose is chocolate, coffee, dried fruits, hints of umami, ethanol.....taste is lightly sweet, with coffee, chocolate, dried fruits including plum, fig, hints of brown sugar, light beef tones, finishing with a soft bitterness.....mouth feel on the heavy side of medium, sticky, alcohol warmth present but subdued, carbonation low with a soft finish. This is a lovely complex confection. The bitterness is subdued, but the balance is superb. BJCP 9/3/17/5/8
