wmubronco1992 (114), Coldwater, Michigan, USA Jun 15, 2008 Draft at Eccentric Cafe on 5/28/08. Pours a cloudy gold color with small white head. The rye flavor really dominates. Very bitter. Not the kind of mouthfeel I was looking for. Maybe someone into the rye flavor would have a more positive feel. Bells has got a ton of excellent brews, but in my opinion this isn’t one of them.
esjaygee (820), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 13, 2008 On tap at the Eccentric Café. Deep golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of rye with some sweet malt behind. Taste of heavy rye with some sweet malts behind it, but mostly just rye. Aftertaste is like I just at a piece of fresh rye bread, though since it was a bit dry, I’d like to add a little butter… Every now and again these off grain beers work, and this one is close. Just too much rye. punkrkr27 (354), Clawson, Michigan, USA Jun 12, 2008 Tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Hazy ornage-gold pour with a foamy white head. Spicy and peppery nose. Chewy, earthy, peppery, straw malt flavor with a spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body with a moderate amount of carbonation. fiver29 (335), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Jun 6, 2008 On tap pours golden with little aroma to it. Has a thin mouthfeel. Taste is not very impressive and has just a typical taste for this style. Overall not an impressive beer. Silphium (2028), Lansing, Michigan, USA May 29, 2008 On tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Hazy medium orange body, thin off-white head. Bready nose with light fermented fruits, hardly detectable at serving temperature. Body similar to a wheat beer, with sweet, wet grass, clove, honey, and bready malts. Overall, the beer is on the dry side, with a bitter, spicy rye finish. Not bad.
