On tap during the Bellís Eccentric Cafe event at the Hungry Monk. Pours a dark, dark brown with a bubbly head. Spicy, malty aroma with cinnamon and ginger. Airy, light flavor with toast, toffee, caramel, and lots of bread. Light body for a stout. Interesting.

Draft at Churchkey. Very dark brown pour with a foamy light beige head. Nose and flavor bring really pleasant roast character with bitter chocolate and espresso mixed with a beautiful spice presence of cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, almond, and allspice. Well integrated spice, medium bodied and complex on the mouthfeel. A really delightful brew.

Tap, CK. Mahogany nearing on black. Quite spicy, with lots of ginger, and slight earthy maple and toast in the aroma. Spicy, earthy, toasted nuts and no sweetness to be found really. Medium to lighter body. Interesting not really my thing.

On tap at crunchy's in east Lansing. Like the name indicates there are lots of spices present. I am not a big fan of beers that smell or remind me of potpourri. This was a decent beer but I would not have it again.

Tap at samís. black with a medium sized creamy head. Nose is light roast, ginger, bakers chocolate, light honey/maple syrup. Flavor is similar--fantastic balance throughout, light spice, mild cocoa, coffee. Really fantastic actually. I might like this more than Kalamazoo! Itís that good. Fuck yeah.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a grayish head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of nutmeg and roasted malts with a bit of underlying ginger. Flavor starts with strong roasted malts and are joined by a combination of ginger and nutmeg.

On tap at Cock & Bull. Black color. Good thin dense light brown head. Decent lace. Big spice taste (nutmeg, some cinnamon, ginger). Light roasty malts. Some chocolate. Bigger body, smooth carbonation, dry texture. Drinks more like a dark spiced ale than a stout, to me. Light bitter taste, spice, mostly. Decent, but I wish it was more stout and less spice. For a solid stout with a definite holiday twist, I much preferred Sam Adamís Merry Mischief
