Had on tap at Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis. I didn’t even knew who brewed it.. the waitress recommended it. Good body, but not too thick. Picked up some crazy aromas and tastes. Definitely some cloves and vanilla. Like nothing I have ever had... I ordered a second glass which I rarely do with stouts.

Kind of sounds more serious that it tastes or looks. Pours a nice dark brown with a frothy white head. Very tasty with a nutty vanilla. Spices are not overwhelming and I could just give the standard nutmeg and cinnamon answer but not so sure about that as something just tastes a bit different. Full bodied with some carbonation. This is very drinkable it is not a “winter warmer”.

Near black pour with a creamy tan head. Aromas of cinnamon, ginger, and roasted malt. Very unique nose, not sure I’ve smelled a brew like this. Flavors of molasses, brown sugar, roasted malt, and a slight chocolate finish.

On tap at Stub & Herb’s Bell’s Fermented Eclipse event - June 26, 2010. Reviewed from notes.
Pours a dark brown with a slight off white head and a bit of lace. Nose is nice and interesting with quite a bit of spice coming through. I think I can pick out anise and juniper, although it’s a bit hard to tell. Taste definitely brings quite a bit of spice, also adding in a bit of roasted malt and some faint chocolate notes. Feel is good, with a medium body somewhat dominated by the spices, which fit well with the carbonation level. Drinkability isn’t bad for what it is, but not something I’d go back for multiple pints of.
On a side note, cheers to Stub and Herb’s for putting on such a fantastic event.

Sampled on tap at Bells Stout Night at Meridian Pint in Washington DC. Pours an opaque black with a creamy, tan head. Big ginger nose, crackers, cookies, sweet, cinnamon. Flavor is sweet, spicy, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, a little dark chocolate, malts. Full bodied, dry finish. Pretty good, a lot of spice, but a good riff on the classic Bells stout.
