On tap at Maduroís Great Taste Eve Party - Pours hazy amber with a thin foamy white head. Tons of honey on the nose, with citrus and bitters. Sweet and boozy. Taste is lots of honey, yeasty, bready and sweet. Finishes citrusy with spicy booziness, a little honey and cherry. Slick and thick. A little much with the sweetness and booziness.

Draft to taster at Eccentric Cafe. This is mead meets Two Hearted and barrel-aged, so Iím not sure how it should be classified, but I wouldnít call it a barleywine. Looks good for the style; a mostly transparent lighter gold with thin white lacing. Smells good! LOADS of honey with some nice barrel characteristics and a touch of citrus. Tastes like it smells, but not quite as balanced. Pleasant on the palate with a nice, lively mouthfeel from the champagne yeast. Good stuff, but this is a braggot.

Draft at Bells. Dark clear golden orange with no head. Boozy oakey scent. Taste is oak, citrus, boozy heat. Decent to sip on.

Mostly clear solid orange pour with thin white corona gathered on the edge of the top. Strong whiskey and oak aroma, strong honey, bright citrus scent detectable. Carbonation is fairly flat, solid and syrupy mouthfeel thatís thinner than expected, very very clean finish. Taste of mead and orange citrus perfectly blended throughout my session, some citrus rinds and indistinguishable grains, certainly oney as well. Strong clean oak flavor as well with little semblence of bourbon or charring. Cannot avoid similarities to orange liquid childrenís medication but a well executed orange mead would be more respectful. Surprising lack of similarities to two hearted. Very well done and surprisingly smooth.

On tap at Bells. Pour is hazy orange with no head. Aroma of rubbing alcohol, honey, and grapefruit rind. Flavor is very similar - moonshine mixed with an ipa. Terrible.

Tap @ Bells: Two Hearted, refermented with honey, aged in Traverse City Whiskey barrels with orange & lemon zest? 16.7% ABV? Is this real life? Golden-amber body, the color of honey (I couldnít resist) & capped with a very timid, off-white collar. Smells like youíve stuck your head into a beehive. Huge honeycomb aroma with a dense sweetness & a good backing of musty wood & barrel notes. Apparent bourbon-like booziness flows throughout, adding a solid heft to the beer. Smells like a heavy mead or honey wine. Taste is also very mead-esque. Sweet honey, overripe raisins, mild but very firm bourbon notes, dense oak barrel character, & a touch of grass. Lingering notes of booze, sweet honey, wood, & faint vanilla. There is no sign of Two Hearted, hops, or even the aforementioned orange/lemon zest (to me, anyway). It resembles a heavy hitting honey wine or mead much more than a beer; however, itís pretty good, whatever you wanna call it... Far better than I expected. Dare I say itís quite "drinkable" given the elevated alcohol content, too.

~5oz pour on tap at Maduro during GTMW. Half hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Loose ropes and bits of lace. Very interesting aroma... Honey, grapefruit in the flavor. Some mild tart tannic flavor, good woody whiskey aroma. A little heat on the end, but not bad at all for 16%... Moderate sweet, moderate bitter. Bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. Light slick finish. Pretty awesome, interesting stuff. Dangerously smooth.
