2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft sample at IBGF Summer09.
Poured a hazy amber color with an average white frothy head that lasted and produced good lacing. Light to moderate citrus hop and small malt aroma. Light to medium body with a thin texture and soft carbonation. Moderate hoppy bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of average duration.
At best an average brew.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
GABF 2013. Pours a bit hazy golden orange appearance with a light tan head. Soft grapefruity/citrusy, somewhat spicy hoppy aroma. Flavor really reminds me of Two Hearted with a juicy grapefruity forward flavor along with some grassy and herbal notes. Would like to drink again.

Easy drinking and thirst quenching ipa here. Plenty of citrus and fruit notes, malty but not in a bad way.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Maduro. Poured medium amber with a large, creamy cap of off-white head.. just lovely! The aroma picked up juicy grapefruit over a bed of soft caramel.. building floral and spicy character as it warmed up.. well-balanced. The flavor found grainy caramel and pale malts at the core with citrus, spicy floral, and piney bitterness around.. simple-ish, but tasty. Medium-bodied and again grainy on the palate, but the balance was spot-on and it was easy-drinkiní.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at The Big Pour beerfest in Scottsdale AZ. I donít recall that "Kalamazoo" was listed in the name, but seeing as there is no other Bellís IPA listed, then this must be the one! Resinous hoppy aroma, some citrus. Slightly grainy palate, a little thin on the malt end, but big resinous hoppy bitterness and citrus-peel fruit. Tasty, but Parksy and I both preferred the locally brewed 4 Peaks IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
~5oz pour on tap at Maduro during GTMW. Hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Leaves pretty nice lace. Great citrusy hop profile, lightly spicy citrus, tropical fruit notes, guava, mango. Impressive hop. Some light bubblegum. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Light slick finish. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet. Solid, refreshing smooth and flavorful hoppy well-done IPA.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
IBGF 2009: Hazy golden hue with a lasting frothy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of grassy and herbal hops, biscuity and grainy malts, and a touch of grapefruit. The taste is rather mundane, herbal hop bitterness with a layer of basic pale malt grains underneath. No real sign of any citric twang, hop spice nor was it clean and refreshing. The mouth feel is a sloppy astringent spent grains and was even a tad buttery. Wow, WTF? This is utterly useless, Bells can and has done better... where is Two Hearted when you need one?.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampler Flight pour on tap at Eccentric Cafe (Kalamazoo, MI). Pours a nice deep amber orange hue, a gentle bit of haze but a deeper glow permeates the body, summer sunset hues come in and out with a frothy whitish head atop that dies to a firm ring, good lacing for itís size. Aromas show citrusy grapefruit, a bit of leon, florals and green earthy hops. Touches of bready malts, a touch more subtance. Growing hop elements as we settle in. Initial is lighter end of the fold with a touch of girth, firm bite of grapefruit with touches of melon, lemon and florals. Nice spritzy citrus hop element picks up steam with grapefruit zest, juice elements setting the pace. Middle is cleaner body, allowing the hop elements to shine. Firm bitterness and florals hit into the backend, fresh American hop vibe shows just a bit of tropical fruit, faint melon and gumball. Finish is dry, a firm bitterness lingers on with pithy grapefruit, some florals and earth. Solid, fresh. The body never gets in the way, just a touch of Crystal sweetness at times that even drewbeerme could tolerate, and allows a good hop element to shine albeit not in an oppressive/overdone manner. Tasty stuff.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster at Eccentric Cafe. Looks solid; a mostly transparent golden orange with white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; juicy and piney hops with a pale malt backbone. Tastes less robust with an average mouthfeel. Okay beer, but an underwhelming example of the style.
