Pours a very dark brown with a small beige head. Strong coffee notes - very reminiscent of espresso. Also some licorice notes. Bitter and complex, with a strong aroma.

Pours black Sorry with a beige head. Super strong roasted coffee aroma. Smells like my morning. Nice mouth feel . Nice coffee and rasted malt flavour. Chocolate is strong. It is a very nice stout. I like it a lot.

Pours dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma has a tun of coffee. This is like Pèche Mortel light. Fantastic.

Nearly opaque black pour with a thick mocha head. Big coffee aroma with notes of chocolate and coffee. Taste has some coffee and bitter dark roasted malts, but the predominant flavor seems to be a strange fruity ester. It’s the first thing I taste and the last thing in the finish. The coffee flavor seems very subtle for something named "Java Stout." Not sure if this is supposed to taste the way it did, but I did not enjoy it at all. Definite drain pour.

Tasted on 2/23/11 on draft at Clark Street Ale House. Pours deep black with a thick tan head that slowly recedes to thick rocky lace. The most prominent aroma is very strongly roasted coffee, along with some darkly roasted malt, and some dark berry fruit. The flavor is berry fruit up front, moving to freshly roasted coffee, and dark malt. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long coffee finish.

Bottle purchased from Tiffany’s in Kalamazoo, Mich., and poured into a pint glass. Coffee notes are very subtle, much to my disappointment. Also, it tastes metallic.... like tinfoil on my cavity. All in all, I will probably pass next time.

This is a unique beer haven’t had to many coffee beers but this seems to be a good example. Reminds me of drinking really good coffee with alcohol in it.

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a vet dark brown with a tan mocha head and a faint bit of lace. Nose consists mostly of coffee and roasted malt with a bit of chocolate. Coffee takes over the flavor win some dy roast. Between the coffee flavor and bitterness, I really like the feel. Not one of the best coffee beers, but a solid offering.
