3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 SanfordBrewer (1206) - Sanford, Florida, USA - JAN 12, 2011
Opaque black, thick bubbly tan head, velvety full body, medium-high carbonation.
Aroma: stale coffee and chocolate malt, with hints of silage and alcohol emerging as it warms.
Taste: bitter cocoa, stale coffee, roast malt, and just a hint of leafy hops.
This is great, except for the coffee. While this is maybe the best coffee beer i’ve had, i really don’t like any of them.

Picked up at the brewpub. Pours dark brown, tan head. Nose is roasted coffee. Taste is pure espresso, dark chocolate, thick body, bitter finish. Nice beer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 taylor714 (9) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2011 does not count
Appearance- Pours thick and rich with minimal head. It’s color is dark, dark brown, verging on a light black color.
Aroma of coffee, lots and lots of coffee. That really seemed to be the only aroma I could pull out of this. The coffee was just in your face.
The taste was a little to straight-forward for me. Coffee. The typical stout roasted malts and chocolate were very faint. I liked the idea of a coffee stout, but it seems that the coffee is too overpowering.
Great thick mouthfeel with very low carbonation.
Average at best. The coffee just seems to be to overwhelming and after the first one, I had had enough.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 spilledpint (277) - Iowa, USA - JAN 7, 2011
12 oz. bottle
Ar: Huge shot of fresh ground coffee up front. A bit of
Ap: Beautiful pour in a 12 oz. snifter at 50’F. Nice light cinnamon head rises to about 1", pillowing just above the top of the glass. The head has decent retention. Decent lace.
T: The flavor is much more bitter chocolate than coffee, which is a nice change of pace. The finish is straight mocha, and the aftertaste is coffee.
P: Nice, creamy body is a bit sticky.
O: Awesome dessert beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 GreggK25 (16) - Carbondale, Illinois, USA - JAN 7, 2011
Pours jet black with a thin brown head. Smells like coffee grounds, leather, dark roasted malt, chocolate cake and the slightest hint of hop. Taste is bitter-sweet chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, a touch of hop and sweet, hot black strap rum. Medium bodied with a fine carbonation and a mid-length bitter-sweet chocolate finish.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 HonusWagner (767) - Florida, USA - DEC 28, 2010
A fairly straightforward coffee stout, although it’s slightly unique in that the coffee isn’t really overwhelming and it doesn’t just taste like a cold cup of joe. Distinctly chocolate dominant in the early and mid-palate, the finish is a good strong mocha with appropriate bitterness. Lacks mostly visually; very dull looking, no head, no lacing. It’s good beer.

Pours dark black with thin caramel colored head. Aroma has a little resin, heavy coffee and bitter chocolate. Flavor is malty and bitter sweet. Palate is thick with an oily texture and flat carbonation.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Chalsk (824) - North Caldwell, New Jersey, USA - DEC 14, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2010 On the First Day of Christmas 2010 the Beer Gods gave to me... this decent stout. Pours a dark brown color with a caramel colored head. Has a heavy aroma of coffee with some hints of chocolate and caramel. Has a sour taste with lots of coffee bitter and malt in the middle and chocolate notes on the finish. Not sure if the sour is from the heavy coffee bitters or if this brew has been infected. I have seen a few other comments about the bitter/sourness of this brew so it may just be the beer. I think if I was expecting the sour I would really like this, but it has caught me off guard.
