3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 RyanMM (410) - Ferndale, Michigan, USA - NOV 12, 2010
Pours dark as night, medium mocha head with good retention. Tons of black coffee on the nose, along with some light chocolate and roast notes. This is an unabashed coffee stout, and a well-made one, even if I’m not a huge fan of purely coffee beers. Bittersweet coffee starts off and is followed by more bitter and zero sweet, the latter bitter notes definitely more from hopping than from the coffee. Very slight pepperiness on the finish. Good beer but I don’t like black coffee a whole ton so it’s not something I’d really care to try again.

Had this beer many times and finally getting around to rating it. Has great fresh coffee aroma and black coffee appearance. Probably sweeter than most coffee stouts and my all time 2nd or 3rd favorite coffee beer. Palate is kinda thick and somewhat syrupy and finish more sweet than bitter.
If you like coffee with sugar than try this beer!!

12oz btl thanks to FunkyBrewster. Pours deep and dark with a frothy tan head. A huge coffee aroma. Like taking a whiff of cold coffee. Pretty much all I’m getting in the taste as well. Big smooth roasted coffee notes with a bit of bitterness. Overwhelmingly coffe-like but not in a bad way. Nice full bodied mouthfeel to boot.

Very dark pour. One finger brown head with little retention but decent lacing. Smells like coffee, but like watered down, old coffee. I find it strange that i want to take a sip. Coffee Coffee Coffee. I really don’t taste much more than coffee and alcohol. Not getting any chocolate or maltiness here. I hope you like coffee if you bought this. If you didn’t...abort!

This is the finest chocolate-coffee stout that I have had. Pours jet black with a big tan head. Taste is dark chocolate malt and coffee. Quite a nice beer.

Clear dark brown black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, strong coffee, dusty coffee, dark roasted malt. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, coffee, dark chocolate, chocolate bean. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft and smooth. [20101018]

A nice robust coffee flavor with a smooth finish. This is quiet possibly the best coffee stout on the market.
