Commercial Description:
The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

Bottle. Black color, opague, dark head. Coffee and cacao in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with some citric tartness, coffee, milk chocolate and licorice. Creamy mouthfeel. Very tasty stout, but also an easy drinker. Not a sign of its alcohol noticeable.

Bottle from hopdog. Black beer with a thin tan head that went away quickly. Aroma is that of roasted malt with the ever so slightest sweetness. Nice dry roasted flavor, coffee beans, light chocolate too. Pretty damned good stuff here. Awesomely drinkable. I want more.

Dark pour with somewhat disappointing head. Bittersweet chocolate is as dominant as coffee on the nose, and I got a ton of cinnamon and brown sugar as well. This was much sweeter than I remember the first time, but every bit as bitter/roasty, and in a good way. Great aftertaste. A really good beer, and nice that it’s not too strong on the ABV. A favorite.

sampled at the Cobblestones in York, PA: Poured black with brown around the edges. Aroma was sweet brown sugar, with lots of coffee and chocholate, just smelled delicious. Flavor was even better, tasted like a gourment coffee with just the right amount of sugar and cream. unbelieable creaminess to this beer, that melds together so well with the roastiness of the stout and the bitterness of the coffee. good full mouthfeel this is an excellent beer.

12 oz bottle from Gregis. Batch 7768 - (packaged on December 21, 2006). Pour is deep brown with only faint ruby highlights, smallish tan head. Aroma of musty charred wood, smoke, perhaps a bit of milkiness. Taste of milky caramel sweetness, and the charred coffee taste behind. There is some bitterness on the finish. Body is somewhat syrupy and mouth coating. This reminded me of the Bells Double Cream Stout, though a bit flatter and a lot less soft. If I see this a bit fresher, I may give it another try. Thanks for giving me this beer, Greg.

(USA) Dark brown color with a med-tan head. There is a roasted espresso / chocolate aroma with a folgers or maxwell house taste. I think it has a slight bitter finish, but a well bodied brew !!! This one is recommended. And another cool thing is the artwork on the bottle.

Pours out dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malt and slight chocolate. Taste is complex coffee, roasted malt, slight hop. Coffee isn’t overpowering and neither are the hops. Very well balanced.

12oz bottle at Niko’s Restaurant, Lebanon, PA...pours very dark with minimal tan head...sweet malty aroma with coffee and chocolate...favor is like a cold glass of hopped up espresso, dry, slightly bitter with a hint of semi-sweet chocolate...I really enjoyed this one.
