The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

Black pour with tiny tan head. Strong coffee nose. Clean roasted fruity coffee front. Light, carbonated body. Semidry mild finish It is dominated by coffee so no surprises.

Poured a dark chocolate brown. No head. Some carbonation. Unfortunately a poor aroma. Distinct ashtray odour. Wow, Kick in the teeth hit of coffee. Alcohol coming through. Slight bitterness on the finish. Not a fan.

Wow. Aroma is all coffee. Taste is a big blast of coffee followed by dark chocolate. Finishes with some bitterness. Thin mouth feel. Good carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown color with light brown head. Aroma of dark coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is a coffee hit, followed by chocolate roast. Medium body, low carbonation, creamy with a lingering roast coffee finish with some light heat. The ending reminded me of the stout I made with a crushed hot pepper in it. Very good.

Bottle. Pours damn near black with a light tan head which quickly fares to a line at the edge. Smells like coffee, almost burnt. The smell almost perfectly follows into the flavor with a rich, not burnt coffee aftertaste. It’s a little more bitter than I’d like, but I fear if it weren’t I might consider it a coffee drink and not a beer. Definitely a treat, would drink again for sure, but one is also enough.

Well, there’s no question that this is a coffee beer. Aroma is strong coffee and the taste is the same. There’s a hint of malt towards the end for me, and the coffee taste lingers for a while. If there was a little more sweetness to balance the strong coffee, I would have enjoyed it more.

Black pour with caramel highlights. Tan head with small bubbles coats the top of the beer. Roasty coffee and chocolate malt. Some oily peanut butter. Flavor is much of the same. The star is the glassy smooth, rich chewy palate. I don't know if this is the same beer as Kalamazoo stout with coffee added, but it tastes and feels like it. The coffee is a bit overwhelming. Chocolate covered cherries battle the roast. Bitterness and sweetness are in perfect balance. Roasty without any astringency or stickiness. Superbly done, but I guess the coffee is a bit much for me.

12oz bottle from The Beer Store Wilson. Motor oil black pour, zero visibility with fully lasting 1/4" thick frothy tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of coffee bean, malt and some chocolate notes. Moderate malt and coffee up front with more chocolate on the finish. As it warmed it was malt from start to finish. Medium body with a cream texture. I dig it!!
