Dark reddish-brown with a brown head. Aroma of chocolate and very strong coffee beans. Strong mocha flavor with heavy coffee aftertaste that lingers for a long, long time. Also some sweetness from sweet malts to balance it out. Pretty solid stout yet again from Bells.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 mgermani (936) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 3, 2008
Pours a murky black with a nice thick broan head and some lacing. Aroma is very, very coffee, slightly metallic, touch of hops. Tastes of strong ash, opening up into potent campfire coffee, roasty and smoky. Warm, hoppy finish. Carb is low, but body is thick and creamy. Very nice beer, many thanks to SoLan for the trade!

Bottle pours a pitch black color with a thin brown head. Very nice lacing that clings to the side of the glass and just lingers there. Robust aroma of roasted coffee beans and rich dark chocolate. Flavor is cofffee, roasted malts, and bittersweet dark chocolate. Just the right amount of bitterness in the long lasting aftertaste. Wouldn’t have guessed it is 7.5% as it is extremely smooth.

Pours black with minimal brown head. Powerful roasted coffee aroma with just a bit of malty sweetness. Sweet and roasted coffee flavors. One dimensional but it is what it’s supposed to be.

Smells like coffee, but not exactly fresh coffee. Very dark brown color with a tan ring for head. Near medium in body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is coffee, with a hint of some sort of liqeur. Toasted/burnt malt notes. Not sure I am tasting chocolate, but could be. Finshes something like coffee with a bit of sugar. Quite different, and very pleasant.

This would go great with my eggs and toast. Aroma smells heavily of coffee. Pours dark black with a thin tan head. Taste leans towards coffee with a hint of beer/alcohol in the background. Finish is bitter and crisp.

Pint from cask at Oldsmar Tap House. Black with lasting light brown head and lace. Espresso and chocolate aroma. Espresso and espresso and espresso flavor with mild fruitiness and coffee bitterness in finish. Full body and low carb (from cask) make for excellent mouthfeel. An excellent beer but should probably be served in a coffee cup.
