Definitely tastes like a stout had sex with a coffee. Very dark coffee is present midway in and at the finish. Start of the sip is sweet and chocolaty. Very interesting. Could pair with anything you would normally pair coffee with...like breakfast (still not better than Founders Breakfast Stout IMHO).

12oz bottle from John Brown’s poured into a shaker. Pours black with a small bit of dark tan head. Aroma of coffee and coffee with a little bit of caramel. Taste is medium bitter with strong coffee notes. Full bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a very long, very bitter finish. Overall, very good. I would drink this again any day.

Strong coffee aroma, definitely shows up in the taste, but not overpowering. Pours black with a dark creamy head. Nice, thick mouth feel with a smooth finish. Usually not a huge fan of the coffee beers, but this one is balanced very well

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2011 Great stout. If you like coffee, you will like this! Powerful espresso smell and no hops. A touch of raisin, maybe. It is dark.... Really Dark! appetizing brown head tho it lasted far too short. The taste is a bitter espresso, and baker’s chocolate - I sense a hint of dark dried fruit in there as well that is more present on the palate than the initial taste. Maybe a touch thin. Bitter going down in a great way. Carbonated subtley. I prefer a dry stout to stout; this however is an exception. Has some characteristics of Guinness FES but far less sweet. The taste sticks with you

Deep dark black/brown with a good sized tan head. Big wallop of dark coffee on the nose. The taste may biggest punch of roasted dark coffee/expresso I’ve had to date. There is a subtle burnt quality that is actually appealing. Certainly some chocolate as well. There is a good bit of bitterness, but it still is a smooth sipper. Very nice.

Dark brown with tan head. Big time coffee. Green, earthy coffee aroma, some ash, light malt sweetness. Nutty/earthy coffee with mildest of acidity, roasted malt, toffee. Trailing coffee, light acidity. Pretty tasty.

Pours a lovely dark colour, but not quite the oily blackness I have come to expect. The taste comes across with coffe, and a touch of toffee, with just the right amount of bitterness to justify itself. A bit thin on he palate, but a truly great beer. I hope to have many more of these

This is the best coffee stout I have ever tasted in my life. So good. The roasted coffee flavor in this one is very present. Also has flavors of vanilla and roasted barley in the background. This is another Bells beer that I wish was available year round. It’s a bit pricey (around $16 for a 6 pack) but trust me it is so worth it. If you enjoy coffee stouts at all, definitely give this one a try, you won’t regret it.
