3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 SQNfan (591) - Wheaton, Illinois, USA - AUG 1, 2008
This poured black in color with a thin head and there was no hiding the coffee aromas and flavors. It pretty much dominated the beer which made it rather simple but also well made and balanced. Medium-bodied and smooth.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JUL 29, 2008
Bottle. No doubt about the strong coffee aroma in this, like espresso. Heavy notes of toasted and molasses for the the malt as well, with light dough and earth for the yeast, faint resin for the hops and vanilla in the background. Head is large, rocky, off-white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is black. Flavor starts heavily sweet and finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is full bodied, between creamy and syrupy, and has a soft, bordering on flat carbonation. It finishes chewy and lightly drying. I’m not usually a fan of coffee flavored stuff but the essence of the coffee married well with the other components of this Stout.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 bigbish (354) - Colorado, USA - JUL 28, 2008
A smooth stout, with a great coffee flavor. What a combination. Perfect for those cold winter nights. Too bad I can’t get this out in Colorado.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Blaketj80 (78) - Oklahoma, USA - JUL 28, 2008
Smooth, with definate flavors of espresso. Worth trying, not a session beer.

Pous a dark rich creamy brown. Thick cream off white head. Laceing stick to the glass the whole way though the session. Strong chocolate aroma, but I also get alot of alcohol and pine. Not to much coffee but there is some present. The flavor is alot more mellow then the aroma present. Smooth creamy chocolate and acidity. Toffee and maybe just a hint of coffee. The palate is big and thick. Smooth and well balanced. Not really sure why it’s called a Java Stout, but it was tasty.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 scotch4281 (39) - Hollywood, Florida, USA - JUL 27, 2008
Rich flavor. Tastes very malty. Definitely lives up to the name Java Stout.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 zappafan99 (463) - ASCENSION ISLAND - JUL 19, 2008
Taste 7/8 Bottle (batch 8216). Looks: Black and tan. Aroma: Wow! Licorice, Toasted coffee beans, bitter nut. Taste: MMmmm...,acidic, coffee, chocolate. Medium body with a very creamy character. No alcohol in the aroma or the taste. Great brew. Think chocolate covered coffee beans.

Batch #8315 Pours dark. Big creamy tan head. Impressive lacing. Sweet creamy chocolatey flavor. Too me its more like capuchino then coffee. Really liked this beer, but really thought of it more of a desset beer. I’d call it a sweet stout. Not the kind of beer that you buy of a case of, but definitely another quality Bells brew.
